Hello all.
Would someone be able to help decode a fender tag on a ‘64 Fury......... or at least point me to a site with the information where I can do it myself? I’m primarily looking to confirm it’s a 426 Street Wedge 4 speed. On the alpha line AB is 14 (I’m assuming 426 Street Wedge from what I’ve found) and the 3 is 4 speed? Also what location identifies rear end type?
The car was originally Chestnut metallic with bronze interior....... that I was able to decipher.
Thanks in advance.

Allan

Here you go.

According to the info that I have, if your car was built at the lynch rd. plant, then it is a 426 four speed. Check your VIN for the plant code. The fourth digit should be 1. Also check that the body code matches the fender tag's SO number. Rear end codes did not appear on fender tags in 1964 as far as I know.

Thanks! Fourth digit is a 1.

Are there production numbers available for the Street Wedge cars? Would be curious to know how many 4 speed convertibles were built.

Thanks again for the info.

I saw the car a couple of years ago and am going back tomorrow to take another look and hopefully buy it. Are there any specific areas I should be looking for rust or other issues?

The body code numbers are model year, assembly plant, s.o. number. In your case according to your tag it should be 4 1 0320 0180. I'm assuming your car was built at lynch rd., if not only the second digit would change. If the fender tag SO number does not match the body numbers then the tag is not for your car. The body number should be on the drivers side of the rad.support, on top or behind, right side up or upside down. There is also asecond location, but I'm not sure where it is on a 64 my car. Perhaps the package tray.

Would the engine have the VIN stamped anywhere? This is supposed to be the original engine to the car. I’m assuming the assembly date of the engine is December 18th...... or maybe I’m completely off base??
If that is the assembly date, would this be correct date wise for the manufacture of the car? It’s supposed to be the original engine?

It is a 1964 426 engine, with a build date of Dec 18 1963. There was no VIN on the engine in 1964. The fender tag scheduled production date is March 20. The engine date seems a bit early for the car, but the 426 street wedge was not a high production engine, so it could have sat around for a while, before installation. It can't be said it is not original based on date alone. That is a pretty rare beast you're dealing with, I'd snap it up, unless it is totally destroyed.

I hope so. I now own it. lol
Frame rails are solid. Floors have some rust. Could probably get away with patching but because of the rarity of the car it’ll likely get a new pan. Wheel wells are solid, rust at bottom of quarters in front of and behind wheel wells and bottom of fenders behind wheel well. Pretty typical rust and it was actually a lot more solid than I was expecting.
Is there any way to determine how many Street Wedge 4 speed convertibles were manufactured?

Here are some photos from this morning.

Looks like a good project. Will be a nice car when done. I would check out the 62 to 65 mopar website , they may be able to help you out with production numbers etc. I'm sure it won't be a big number. Good Luck.

No production numbers for 64 but a very rare car, you could look at 65 production numbers to get an idea but I would guess less than 50.

In 65 white book shows 19 belvedere and 65 Satelite 426 conv.

Thanks. is there any info on auto vs. manual?
Supposedly Galan Glovier (?) had been talked to about the car and he stated he had never seen another one like it. It was maybe one of 3? Just hearsay though.

Any recommendations on a supplier for parts? Floor pan, patch panels, interior, wiring harness, etc?

Thanks in advance.
