Hi, I'm replacing my trunk pan and I have a few questions.
I've never done this kind of thing but would like to learn as I go.
I'm worrying about how I should best support the car so that the rear doesn't get missaligned

I'm only removing the main pan. The quarters, trunk extensions, valence panel, taillight panel are staying on the car.

Can I have the car on sitting on it's wheels or should I place the it on jackstands on the chassis lift points?

If I place it on jackstands, can I have the rear axle in place or will that be too much weight pulling on the framerails?
Or If I keep the car sitting on it's wheels will that cause the same issue but in reverse?

I'm a total novice at this kind of thing but trying to learn

The trunk doesn't add much of any strength to the car in that regard. The rear quarters being tied into the roof, rockers, door openings, tail light panel and trunk opening (which are both tied into the rails) should keep it plenty square. I'd just make sure it's comfortable to both get in and out of the trunk and still have plenty of room to crawl under it so you can trace the rails so you can predrill your spot welds.

Ok tanks! I was suspecting that I maybe was unnecessarily worrying. But I better safe than sorry I figured
Thank you guys!

To install a one piece trunk floor, the rear valance needs to be removed. It welds to the rear lip of the trunk floor, so those welds need to be seperated anyway.
The new trunk floor will slide right in from the rear with the valance removed.

Unless you buy a sub par floor lol. Mine was a 2 piece and stopped 3/4" shy of the rear. Ticked me off because that lip was rotted too, had to fab an extension to the new floor! That was before AMD offered the nice ones.

Yea originally I wanted to get a full floor but realized that I won't be able to get it in without removing more than just the floor. I'm planning on getting a 2 piece from AMD.
From what I understand they do have the best fitting pans right?

Yes, The AMD pans are the best. I would recommend the one piece pan though.
The rear valance welds to the trunk floor lip. and to the tail light panel, and a few spots at each end. Unless you are really trying to avoid any exterior painting, I would suggest putting in the one piece floor. The rear valance can be removed and reinstalled. Here is one I did. The rear valance was junk, so it had to be replaced anyway. The new AMD trunk floor slid right in

I'm planning on avoiding any of the exterior parts as it's already has a decent paint job. Would probably need new quarters though If I wanna make it real nice someday. But for now I'm just trying to fix the necessary things to make it drivable and usable

Great Idea! How was the fit and quality of the rear valance? I too am in the process of replacing the trunk floor on my '70 Charger. Thanks in advance for your input.
