Having issues with new lifters in a 440 block made after 68. Any suggestions on what hydraulic lifters to buy.(flat top,no rollers) Flat tappet cam. Thanks in advance

Please explain you issue. A bit more info on what's wrong.

Stock rockers ? pushrods ? Who's cam ? maybe needs lifters to match. Some say aluminum rockers tend to be more noisey than stock.Just guessing on past experiences.I can go out on a limb and say there is a difference between small block and big block lifters as where the oil grove is located depending on what manufacturer. This is not your case but some of the Mopar Performance replacement big blocks took small block lifters. Maybe hearsay maybe not. Hope more guys chime in.

the lifters are bleeding under pressure when sitting for a day or two...roller rockers are fine as pushrods...just wondering where or what people reccommend for lifters

Mine bleed off to. I did a test my on my dads, he has a original 69 440 and you still could not collapse the lifter and it has sat since the early 80s. The valve springs stay compressed. Is it the tolerance inside looser on the new ones? Don’t make any sense.

let me put this a different way....IF a person was to build a 68 on up block and wanted hydraulic lifters....what lifter would be recommended ..best

I use Comp anti bleed lifters on my 470.

I used Hughes 5003 hydraulic lifters. They are noisy for hydraulic but I wanted to use the same brand as my cam. No problem with bleed off.

Not sure, but here’s the part number....867-16 pro-mag hydraulic lifters.

No problems with the hydraulic lifters I got from Crower, for my 69 440.

I understand there is a difference between 67 and 69 440 lifters. Do they all take a 5/16 ball on the pushrods?

Send your lifters to Oregon Cam and have refurbished.

Is the reason to recondition lifters because of poor materials in todays lifters? Any other reasons? Have a set of lifters with only 20 hours on them they were mixed up when they were removed.

Edit: Hemi solid lifters.

They are different as are the PRs. I believe that the cup and ball are smaller on the lifter end. You can use later year lifters/PRs, but shouldnt mix them.
