Does anyone know where to find production numbers on the old mopars?
Including breaking down to how many had each type of option?
I have a 1968 Road Runner and was told it was rare because of the paint code.
I really do not know if this is true or not.
By reading the fender tag it shows it was special order....oooops correction(U - 1= sold car when built(someone ordered it).... not special order. It also shows buffed silver metallic exterior paint with silver and black interior. I did not find many pictures of similar cars on google search and the ones found were hemi, unfortunately mine is no hemi.

I have been able to find - 2 Door HDTP - 383-4 AUTO - 8,480 numbers produced.

Does anyone know where to find production numbers broken down by paint and interior?

I've only seen paint broken down as a percentage of total production.

try a dedicated site like roadrunnernest

Yep, the roadrunner.net site is back up & has a lot of useful information. So, is your paint code "999"? I'm no paint expert, but I believe that is the code for special order paint which was most often colors that were available on other cars (e.g. C-bodies) and "maybe" the previous year or something like that.

No, No, No it is not special paint. AA1 paint code.... it was special order car... oooops just noticed wording is not correct..... 9-special order... mine was not special order... U - 1= sold car when built(someone ordered it)... mine was (someone ordered it) not (special order) big difference i guess... sorry for the mix up on wording, thank you for the comment

From the books as supplied by Galen, the production numbers for the 383s are as follows:
Coupes / Sedan
4 Speeds: 13707
Automatics: 14431
Hardtop 4 Speeds: 6686
Automatics: 8480

These numbers are not 100% as you have to factor in the cars sent to Canada and for export oversees as well. As others have pointed out, no precise number on how any one car was built in relationship to colors or options. For the early 68s prior to the introduction of the hardtops in January of 68, they all had a silver and black interior, just a difference in the material grain appearance.

The only special colors were the "999" coded ones. Those colors can be all over the spectrum, but the more sought after ones were the Petty blue cars. Some cars had what was know as the special "Buff" paint as the A4 Silver.
