Lots of work, but if you have the $$$$ and tools to do it, go for it.

I would avoid buying an unrestored vintage car on the East Coast.
 
Always buy the best body you can. Mechanicals are easy-body work hard! Remember: rust never sleeps.

It really depends what state you are in.
Some don't issue titles for old cars
 
True but I wouldn’t put a dime in a car I didn’t have documentation of ownership
 
I wouldn't jump on it - without a title there's no proof of ownership. I purchased my 73 Rallye for that price and it needed a lot of work too but mine came with a title.
 
Save yourself years of work and keep looking, the price is the least thing to worry about if the body is rusty.
