Just heard from my friends. They're ok. Moved really fast and didn't get flooded. Guess they were on the lucky side of the eye and the surge.I have good friends who live in Niceville, about 50 miles west of where the storm made landfall. They live on the water on the bayou. Hopefully , the storm surge will not get them. They're on the NW corner of the storm, so hopefully the winds will be a little less too. They're sheltering in place with most of their neighbors. I'm worried for them. Say a prayer !!!!
Huh? Tell that to the folks in Mexico Beach. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and the first hurricane I can remember going through was Donna in 1960 and even though we had hurricane force winds, we were not even close to the center, where it was really bad. In all the years here, I have only experienced four eyewalls and was never in a cat 4. Three cat 3’s was good enough for me. I read a post somewhere that they had been through dozens of hurricanes. Unless they were some kind of storm chaser, I call bs.Qwnt over our heads this time ! Cat 4 ain't no joke but as long as it keeps moving there not that bad ! When they sit in one place dumping water is when it is not good !
