1968 Plymouth GTX

Some more inspiration. My buddies 68 R/T. He got a top Ten award at a show Saturday along with 3 more of my friends.

Here's a few more I did for other people:

Have detailed photos of these projects as well.

I do have experience as this was my previous project:

That's a great color, do you remember what it is. I'm leaning toward a dark green or dark blue for my 65 Coronet a few years down the road. I'm really thinking a green like that with the white interior and top would look great.

VIN Decode said: Racing Green metallic Paint
My local jobber who sells RM Diamont products computer matched it to this:

I used a black sealer under it and sprayed three good coats of base followed by 4 coats of clear.

You do great work!
I'm looking forward to see how this one comes out.

Thanks. I am hoping to get into this GTX over the winter months. Need to order some things and get the garage ready, plus I still have another project to finish for someone else.

Pulled the fuel tank and lines:

Removed the brake master cylinder, brake pedal assembly and brake lines.
When I pulled the front right wheel I found the car came with the optional disc brakes.

Removed the caliper and rotor:

Removed the upper control arm and found the bumper disintegrated:

Pulled the torsion bar back to remove the strut and lower control arm:

Lower control arm bushing was completely worn through on one side:

Next I will remove the splash shield and then on to the other side. The goal is to get it completely disassembled and then media blast the shell so I can better assess the condition of the floor pans.

Great car to start on, nice metal! This is going to be fun to watch.

Have you considered using dustless media blasting?
I’ve seen the YouTube videos; removing all rust in an hour. Don’t know that much about it though.

I haven't considered it but did watch some videos. They make it look real easy.
I already have a pressurized blaster tank, maybe just throw some water in there?

Removed the rear axle:

Then installed my homemade stand. Made this from pickup bed camper jacks and some scaffolding wheels.

I can easily roll the car around on these and one wheel on the front and back have locks on them to keep things stationary when I want to.
Still considering making a rotisserie from a couple of engine stands, just haven't spent enough time researching it yet.
