I recommend to everyone not to buy a disassembled car! 1967 Coronet R/T with 440 and heavy duty drum brakes.

Ok, the rear backing plates that came with the car are complete, but were not on the axle housing and have no self adjusting hardware. The front backing plates have nothing on them.

According to my original parts manual I believe both front and rear brakes should have self adjusting hardware. 3" front shoes with 1 1/8 wheel cylinder. 2 1/2" rear shoes with 15/16 wheel cylinders. Does anyone have a setup similar to this.

I believe Plymouth has a different setup. Perhaps because of the shorter wheel base.

I checked the forum and noticed two vendors for performance brake parts. Is there any vendor who supplies parts closer to the original.

As always, thanks for the support and answers

Arne

Some HD brakes came manual adjusters on high performance cars, they have large teeth for brate spoon. My 66 Hemi has manual adjusters.

Just refer to the service manual......Dodge/Plymouth were the same

All cars coded with the 11" HD brakes I ran across came with manual adjusters....Which coincides with the service manual.

Cars coded for standard brakes had self adjusters.....

If those are the rear backing plates and btw there are dates stamped on them. So if they are in good shape you should see the numbers.

If you are not going OE correct than I would just use the self adjusters.

Can you get 11" brake shoes for self adjusters, isn't there pin on shoes?

Lol, be a real man and go for manual adjusters! Yup, shoes are the same; only the hardware differs.

The factory service manual has everything you need. I added self adjusters to just the front of the 67.

Once again, many thanks for all the great info.

Still looking for a brake parts vendor that isn't performance brakes. I checked Canada's two largest parts vendors. They both have front shoes and rear drums, but no front drums or rear shoes. doh

Rockauto?

Did you have wheel cylinders sleeved by chance?
You asking me? No, I was able to hone and rebuild the originals. Pitting was minimal. I'll pull the wheels this winter and see if they're leaking or not.

My Canadian friends can hook you up...

They have NOS brake shoes in the Canadian Mopar version. They are not pricey and have the original material....Makes a big difference in functionality.......They are not 100% OE correct. Their shipping is very reasonable and even for people buying from the US....

Brass sleeves is outdated....Stainless steel is the only way to go.....I have a phenomenal company that does that....The cleaning process the utilize is amazing when you get the casted part back...

rock auto,as we all know, is governed to sell only the garbage that HAS to be produced today ----- they are linked in with those types of companies ONLY....
For you, or any others that are LOOKING and CRAVING for the ---- REAL DEAL ----- ++ N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ you must find somebody that is hunting down
++N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fortunately for you, and others, that somebody is ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I will PM you subsequently.....

I also have ALL the brake components including N.O.S. U.S.A. made Brake Drums...... wheel cylinders, brake hoses, wheel bearings & seals, also, of course.....

Send me some pics of your "NOS" brake shows that are correct for a 69 B body with HD brakes both front and rear.....I am expecting to see the shoes stamped with a penstar or DPCD logo...Also a solid asbestos liner with no center groove....

If you got that then I am interested....Shoot me a PM

I have various aftermarket shoes ----- they only have pentastars, if they happen to have them ---- and I am old school -- so I have no means to send pictures......
I brought them out to the Mopar Nats for 21 years in a row, out in Ohio, and I have blown off that show for the last 3 years now -- as it gets smaller and
smaller -- and sales got leaner and leaner.......
Always bring them to Chryslers @ Carlisle in July (........ IF ........ I have them --- since they can be N.O.S. ONLY, of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
