I bought some new Magnum 500s for my 73 Runner and the fronts will not fit the hub of the rotor...did rotors have different size hubs?
The wheel guy said they fit stock rotors
Thanks
AL

Bought from who? You shouldn't have any issues that I am aware of. I bought 4 Magnum 500 wheels from "Stockton Wheel" a long while back, and had no issues. Is it possible you bought Magnum 500 wheels for a ford? They also used a similar looking wheel.

Bought from a dealer at a car show. It says right on the box Mopar..I heard that the cop rotors had a larger hub which was what I thought my problem was..I was quite POd I must say LOL

Why don't you post the actual diameters of both, your rotor hub and the diameter of the rabbet on the wheels?
I'm sure someone here can give you an answer! I'd like to know too.

I remember reading somewhere that all true mopar magnum 500s were 14" only, that any 15"magnums were either ford or aftermarket. Time for some research. Maybe ford wheels are for a smaller hub size. I would look for a brand marking or part number on your wheels.

It is typical for the modern snouts to be a few thousanths bigger. I turned mine down so any wheel would fit. It isn't much. Ten minutes on the lathe.

The front of the rim looks great thank god that is what you see.. DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BACKSIDE LOL
The fact the back is wrong and the center cap is wrong is not my problem..it is the fitment which is why I posted thinking someone might have run into this problem before.

Homie, it won't fit because it is for a FORD. If you don't want help, or want to argue with someone trying to help you, then... good luck with it.

And, the back does matter, possibly more so than the front, because that is the side contacting the rotor, AND causing you problem.

Three choices, oops four.
1. Find somebody with a big enough lathe to drill out the wheel a little.
2. Find someone with a lathe to turn down the hub on your rotor a little.
3. Buy a Ford
4. Sell them to a guy with a Ford.

I wasn't asking for help or arguing I just asked if the hubs on the rotors had different sizes. And I guess they do..tried them on my buddies 69 Corornet last night ...they fit fine..weird..guess I don"t need a lathe or a Ford LOL

So I tried the rim on 3 other mopars and it fit fine, the issue is the hub on the rotor. The other cars all had a tapered hub.
Now to look for rotors with a tapered hub and all should be good.
Thanks for all the help
AL

I have a set of "Ford" 15" Magnum (Road Wheels) on my other 70 Charger even being a Ford wheel it fight right on without any issues. I did have to open up the inner dia hole opening slightly to get the Mopar center cap to fit.

I think it is the non tapered hubs that cause the issue, they seem to fit the early Mopar rotors just fine.

From first hand experience, that rim was designed for a Ford. If you are using these, make sure the rim mounting face indeed bolts flat to the hub face/brake drum. I tried similar, it didn’t, and I snapped a wheel stud trying to force it. Ended up ditching the rims. Mopar Magnums are not hub centric, they located from the taper on the lug nuts.

Thanks very much for that Kowal..lots of different style of Magnums rims out there. That is my main concern fitting tight..I have two options bore out the rim a shade or get some rotors with a smaller hub..I am looking for rotors LOL
Thanks again
AL

M y magnums are 14" and have the Ford oval stamped into the backside. They fit tight, even after PO machined the rotor/hub enough for them to fit. My car has factory manual disc brakes. Hope this helps.

So I guess I'll never know what diameter they're supposed to be!

The Wheel Guy here , I don't sell those style of American Racing wheels. I am curious how my name got involved in this mess.
