Anyone with the specifications or differences in a 66-67 Dana and a 68-70 Dana?

The info I have is this.
66,67- 54 1/4 housing width, 59 3/8 axle flange width, 1330 u joint, 23 spline axles, drain plug.

68 to 70- 54 15/16 housing width, 60 1/16 axle flange width, 7290 u joint, 23 spline except 70, which has 35. No drain plug.

All have 44" perch centers.

Thanks, I have always heard they were slightly wider and this confirms what I have heard. Thanks for the info.

And if they are built anything like the 8 3/4's were, the numbers vary a bit. Have not had the pleasure of dealing with any Dana's from 66-67's and only a few newer ones so I can't really say much about them except for the fact that Mom's quality control had a fairly wide tolerance on stuff like that....or at least they did with the 8 3/4's.

I agree on the 16's or less, but 3/4" minus that 16th makes some difference on the wheel wells of a 66-67. We did everything in the day to get more tire under our 66-67 B bodies. Just one of those things I wanted to know. I have a 68 Dana, but am into correctness on my 67. Everything said and done, I know the drain plug is the easy thing to spot for the difference.

here's my 68 Dana and honestly I don't know what this numbers mean

Is this the original ring gear?

Yes, untouched and unmolested dana 60, my guess are that even the oil was the original, came out black althoug no metal in the oil and no sharp edges in the cogs still like new inside.

You numbers guys, I always thought that the end numbers 43-13 were 43 teeth on the ring gear and the 13 was the number of teeth on the pinion gear. That figures to a 3:31 ratio. Untouched Dana's were 3:54's or 4:10's for Chrysler B body's. I'm not sure on trucks. Let us know out there.

I don't have a pic but a small plate was in one of the studs and that was the number, 3:31and am sure is an unmolested dana and original to the car

You said 68 Dana, did it come out of a B body Mopar?

The only ratio that was supposed to be available in 68 B bodies was a 3:54. A factory mistake? or a gear swap?

Look at his bolt pattern on the rear end. Looks like 11 holes not 10. Dana 60 ???

This rear end appears to me to be out of a Ford truck or van originally. Not sure grip either.
I am sure it came out of factory like this, my car was build in Mexico, the car belong to a lady for 45 years, no way she drag race the car or change it but is a Dana am sure just I can't find the pic where it says dana in the gear ring.

I'm sure there were differences in Mexican built cars and nothing is impossible with Chrysler. Just one of those things! You have what you have and if you like it, keep it.
