i was reminded of these the other day...i have a 440 with Trick Flow 270 port heads...was going to go Max wedge stuff with FItech 2x4 EFI...but a 5k investment was a little steep..

i just started a 511 Hemi, so i was thinking of a way to kill 2 chevys with one hammer..

i could buy the bases for both engines, and mix and match tops.

anybody tried one, or using one currently?

Just a quick thought. If your combo doesn't perfectly match the manifold, that could be some added machine work. My manifold (6bbl) didn't quite match the ports, was able to correct it with gaskets. However if that manifold also takes the place of the bathtub gasket I could see a possible mismatch. Maybe I'm being to **** and it isn't a big deal. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Every dyno test I`ve seen, they tuned out to be a flop. Not as much power as the others tested. But don`t remember what the winner was.

the intake dose not have a valley built in...i called about that.

all these intakes are standard 440 port size for 395$ to get Max Wedge port size thy charge another 100$ for a CNC port enhencment

I have/had high hopes for the ModMan intake. I love the looks of the Weiand intake with the tall, direct intake runners, but it seems like they have to be heavily modified to avoid a host of problems with various aspects of performance.
I find it hard to believe that an open space like the ModMan intake has would be very good for performance, especially on a street/strip car.
I am going to stick with my Chrysler/Edelbrock aluminum 6bbl dual plane intake. I have seen a few dyno comparisons between the Holley 6bbl with my intake and modern high performance 4bbl carbs and intakes and the Edelbrock 6bbl combo is an amazing performer! Jim LaRoy raised the ceiling of the intake runners IIRC, and he has had great numbers for some stoker RB motors topped with the Edelbrock 6bbl.

Jim did a 440+.030 6bbl for me. 590 hp@ 5800

And pretty good trq. too.

I'm officially jealous and envious...
I am completely on board with Jim's plans and desire to complete the work be already has committed to, and then retire. I wish I could have been one of them, but he has made some referrals....and continues to help us with  GREAT information!
I hope I can move forward with my stroker motor soon. I'm not getting any younger.

That torque "curve" is nice, high, and flat!
Great horsepower too!
I am looking for well into the 6XX range for torque and as close to 600 HP while keeping the RPM range up just high enough to make sure that I can cover the 1320 in 4th gear on my Passon Performance a855 5 speed and 4.10 Dana 60. I certainly don't want to have to shift to 5th just before the finish line.

69 GTX...
590 horsepower and what looks like 550 ft lbs Torque has me wondering if it's worth spending all of the extra money on rods and a stroker crankshaft to get the extra torque of a stroker motor.
Now I'm thinking that a well built RB that could attain the numbers you got, and then add a mild nitrous plate system (and appropriate reinforcement for the extra power) may be a better option.

The Mod Man intake reminds me of the Offenhouser (sp) 360. I had one on a 413 back in the 70's. They were poor power producers compared to individual runner intakes.

I always wonder this too. Unless you just want to say you have a *** cu in stroker. You can easily get 600 from a well matched 440 that runs on 88-91 octane and is reliable. TRQ & HP are useless if you can't get it hooked up. Unless your building a dyno car.

^^^yep, i build a stock stroke 440 this time, my 11 to 1 500 last time was making 630 lbs of torque, and frankly at that point, you need to back half the car with a serious suspension

i have a very modern 440 with trick flow heads, and a Lunati roller cam and all the rotating assembly is new.

plan on breaking it in with a carb, but switch to EFI, hence this post.

all the info ive found points to the Mod Man intake as a poor choice to use with a carburator, but dose better with EFI, so i may still consider it.

I am sold on a Gerst or RMS triangulated rear suspension, and I also want to tub or mini tub the rear wheelwells.
I have to look into a company that can widen the aluminum 17" Rallye wheels I have, because I want the EXACT appearance I have now, but with a wider than 9" wheel.
