Hi guys, can anyone verify which one of these cranks is the correct one for a 68 Plymouth? Thanks! (in my so-unoriginal car I can't believe I'm obsessing over this, but... It's the little things that make us crazy right!)

#1-the smoothie

or #2, with the ridge around the edge

All I see on the 'net are type number 2, but the smooth style was what was on my car when I bought it 20 years ago... Thanks again

#2

#1 is late 70's through 90's

#1 is also made from a lighter pot metal.

Ok thank you! Interesting to note the #1 style feels more solid and is thicker everywhere compared to #2...you'd think the thin one would be from the el-cheapo years ha

Thanks again @YY1 ... I chucked the later-style handles and pulled a couple of the proper ones off of a '73 satellite today. Not sure I'll know how to act having all four cranks match LOL

#2 is also correct for 73.

Interesting note about #1, it is way easier to break and there are actually two versions of that crank "small knob" and "big knob"

Just like anything that is reproduced, there is a better quality piece and a lesser quality piece. Expect the handles to be loose to the point of falling off within the first use of the lesser quality pieces. The better quality pieces are roughly twice the price, but holds up much better. As you have found out, used ones are readily available in different levels of quality. They can be replated, but that is expensive in the long run.

I found this is true for the #2 style too, I have them with both size knobs..so now I have four different styles in the parts drawer haha

Yeah, I just hit the ones I'm using with some chrome polish and called it good. They cleaned up pretty well for old original parts(good enough for my car anyways!)

Thanks guys
