I have some water spots on my door glass and vent windows..is it okay to use the clay&spray or some 0000 steel wool on original glass? I'd hate to mess it up as it's in otherwise great condition. What are you all using? Thanks for your opinions!

I used some 0000 steel wool on some windows once. DO NOT do that.

A guy at a junk yard once told me they use toilet bowl cleaner. Have not tried it myself.

I used to clean my windows on a 65 Impala SS with 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner. Never harmed them and always left them smooth and clean. Just go lightly.

I bought the glass polishing kit from Classic Ind. Seemed to work OK, as my glass was not very worn. To get at the deeper scratches, you really have to work at it...

My friends father that owned a body shop back in the day used 0000 steel wool and rubbing alcohol mixed with water. Followed up by newspapers (Yes newspapers) soaked in hot water and scrub hard. Finished with glass wax.
It's been years since I've done this as I really like griots garage glass polish.

Getting in touch with my friend who has the name of a compound that he swears by

Will let you know

It is called Rhodium and he said you can get it at Eastwood

Thanks guys! I just need to get some hard water spots off. I will try to remember to report back what I used and the results..

Use some ammonia in the water to lubricate it. I always used a brillo pad. DO NOT use Scotchbrite.

I have done the clay bar on my Windows, works great

I'd use white vinegar straight to remove hard water spots. The acidic properties of the vinegar will
dissolve the deposits. If you want to do a little polishing, use some Bon-A-Mi and a buffer. Under NO
circumstances use steel wool!!!!! If you don't believe me, try using steel wool on a small glass mirror
and then hold it flat outside in the sun and look at all the damage you've done! No single edge razor
blades either for scraping! ( don't ask me how I know that one!)

Razor blade and glass cleaner to get the bad stuff off. Then clean with Bar Keepers or Bonami.

News paper works great for washing windows too. Had a car dealer that I used to detail cars for and he won't let me wash windows with anything else.

There’s always more than 1 way to skin a cat. I used 1000grit-3000grit and then polished with bc/cc polish and that worked out beautifully on my 64 Polara.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this!
get one of those new fangled micro fiber cloth with only water
it will take out your water spots and
you will never buy glass cleaner ever again!
even a better hint from Heloise is
try it on stainless, you will throw your stainless polish away also!

Ok guys what about fog on my windows? My windshield has some fog, (is the only way I can explain it) on the lower portion. It’s the original glass so I’d like to keep it if possible

More than likely age separation......Only fix is to replace the glass...
