Max Wedge hood scoop

yes , i bought them both . i'll i can say is . i found , i bought . not sure if i'm using both of them . but i do have two 2 dor hard top 63 furys . one sport fury golden commando , one plan fury . sfgc is an mw auto , in build of a big inch wedge now , fury is mw 4spd driver , in build now as well .

Good to know Steve. I've been tossing around the idea of changing to a max wedge scoop. I think that I would probably deal with Larry from Sled City he seems to be an ok guy.

That’s where I got mine becuase I liked the idea of the studs. Another really good scoop is from Kramer. You have to use nuts and bolts for his versus studs but they are really good as well. Buddy of mine has the max wedge scoop from Kramer on his 63, no complaints.

I didn't see your question about the template answered but I did get it for my 65 Coronet and I thought I understood that there was one for a single carb but that wasn't the case If you are doing the dual quads it may be worth it but it wasn't really what I needed

I bought a metal scoop for my '65. I have a new fiberglass one that I was going to put on but now I'll sell it and just focus on installing the metal scoop.

I have bought a max wedge scoop from one of the manufacturers, It was pretty decent, Based on it, I recommended to a the same company for their hood and scoop for a 64 Dodge. when I saw the car the next summer I was pretty disappointed in what I saw. The hood was over an inch too short. In order to line up across the front with the fenders, There was a gap across the back large enough to put your hands down. I could almost see the cowl gasket. I was shocked. I asked why he would even put the hood on the car. He said I have enough money into it now I have to use it. However I took the plunge anyway and bought a Hemi Scoop for my car figuring that the hood issue must have been a one off mistake. The scoop was horribly packed by the maker and was damaged in 3 corners. The mounting studs had been bent and couldn't be straightened. With very little force they snapped off. Certainly not strong enough to hold at any serious speed. Also, What ever coating was put on the scoop reacted with every type of primer/sealer my body guy put on. It was sanded and redone 4 times and still isn't perfect. We ended up having to remove the remaining studs and use panel glue to hold in Rivnuts. They are great and solid. We left the one stud at the front. There are probably close to 25 hours in it because of the issues. My advice is to buy the best scoop you can afford and be prepared to have to do major work on any one you get. I'm not naming names because I never contacted the company but if you want to PM me Preacher I can give you more info.
 
well , we made the cevlar glass hood for mine 63 . its not pref , but its a work in progress , lol . and it will be better looking after the scoop is placed on it . but with my engine offset , the scoop has to be modified abit . and shorter air elements as well . but if i do what i want that big wedge will get hilborn fuel injection . but that set up can be trouble some at times . i've got the max intake with twin fours . just that hilborns are awsome . and i do know a guru thats run a number of different setups .

glasstec everything i got from them has been great package well. on time they even called and asked what day i wanted dropped off. can't say enough good things about them. pricing is god also

You should have gotten back with the manufacturer. If you don't, how does he know that he has a flaw in his part and it needs corrected. I had a guy call me one time and complain about a hood not taking paint. I asked him if he had prepped the hood himself, he said no that the body shop was having the trouble. Their problem was that they did not wash with water or even wet sand it. Sometimes the mold release agent is on the part and it is water soulable. You have to prep every fiberglass piece before you put paint on it. Just like a metal piece. You wouldn't buy a metal piece from AMD and start painting without prep, would you?
 
yes , and sometimes strip their paint job off , todays matl's are a pain in the b.......t .
