Need Battery Suggestions

Longevity depend's on how it is maintained when not in use, a battery tender will give it more life and how many time was it discharged too low. The extra cost for a antique battery to me is worth it. They use AGM batteries, you can buy that at the parts store but it does not look so good. If you decide to buy an AGM reproduction Mopar battery, you will need the special charger designed for it. Also you will need to follow the instructions that tell you to discharge it every 2.5 months and recharge it. This keeps it healthy. you will get 8-12 years out of it.

I get very good results from the group 27 MOPAR batteries right from the dealer. I generally get 11 years from them.
HOW MUCH ??
I NOTICED WALLY HAS A NEW BIG BATTERY NOW, 3 YR UNCONDITIONAL, THEN PRO RATED FOR THE REST OF 8 YRS. , WASN`T PRICED REAL BAD. AGM
As always , excuse the caps--------------I`m getting older !

About a year ago I could get the Group 27 Mopar batteries from the dealership for around $100. This year they're around $140. And FWIW recently the 6 yr. old Mopar battery in my '68 Coronet gave up the ghost. Makes me wonder if they changed to a different source for their batteries or I just happened to get a bad one. Time will tell since I bought three of the Mopar batteries last year.

On my daily rig ('98 Dodge 12v 2500), I bought my batteries through Wally World, I am only 5 minutes from the shop...so really not enough time to get a charge in them if I am just going back and forth to work during the week. I try to go for a drive on the weekends, but not always possible...so far with the warranty and how they pro-rate them, I have gone in twice to replace both batteries within the last 5 years. No hassle, no problem.....bring my wrenches with me, grab a cart, disconnect and head to the store!! Next time I replace them...I will look at the AGM batteries to see if I can get a few extra years out of them!!

I'm sold on Optima batteries. I had horrible luck with every battery I tried on our boat and tractor which both sit long periods... yes I should have put a battery tender on them but at the same time they should have lasted much longer then they did. When I finished my Charger I put an Optima in it hoping for better results, it's been 5 years and I've never put a battery charger, tender or anything else on it and it starts everytime.

Optima red top has been good so far. Exide is another battery that is a good one.

My first Optima AGM was a red top for the GTO. I was so impressed with it (still am) I got the yellow top for my Lemon Twist Roadrunner, a blue top for my travel trailer, a blue top for my electronic jack for my car trailer, a blue top for my pontoon boat, and I'll probably get either a red or yellow top and a blue top or 2 blue tops for my bass boat.
 Optima AGM

I went to TSC to buy an Exide and they were out of the full size that I wanted so what the heck I bought this 34 series. I've only put a charger on it when doing a compression test. Other than that it's always cranked the 440 without any sign of being weak. I've had it for over a year now and have only put 600 miles on the engine.

I Usually order a Battery online from Advance Auto Parts and pick it up at my local store. They have Group 27 Too. Look online for a Discount code. Usually 25 % off.

Is anyone still making the mopar reproduction batteries?
I have a red top (believe turbo start made it).

Thanks Guys! My battery has a 1/06 label on it & came with the car. The PO said he had to charge it from time to time as it lost it's charge as he didn't drive it all the time.

I've noticed that when I let it sit for about a week I get the clicking noise as the battery is almost dead. The ammeter will go all over the place above 0 when I 1st start it & if I take it out for a drive for about an hr. it seems to settle down to about between 0 & +5.
Might not be a battery problem and just a current draw.
