9.25 rear end

I believe the 9-1/4" rear didn't show up until very late 1974 at the earliest. Both my '74s have 8-3/4 rears in them. My 1975 Daytona has a 9-1/4 rear (5-1-75 build date).

Nope. I "think" the changeover from 8-3/4" to 9-1/4" happened sometime during 1975 and I "think" it may have been a mid-year change or something???

They DID have 8-1/4" rear ends available in 1972 Chargers with 318's and 225's in them.

Wanting to change my 8 1/4 out was the reason asking. Thanks for the replies!!

Find one out of a 75 up B-body. That 9.25 swaps right in for the 8.25 out of the 71 up.

Mid year 1974.

The 8.25 was also behind the 2bbl 400 in 72.
I am on the look out for 9.25 also.
Or a 8.75 if I could find one for a 71-72.

is there a sequence number associated with the rear and car?

I have 2 '74 Rallye's, had 3.
One with 9-1/4, 8-3/4 and 8-1/4

Never really knew which, if any, were original to the car.

Remember 73 and up rears will have the rubber ISO spring clamping contraption and the spring perches will have the large centering hole... just tack weld in an appropriate size washers (Firm Feel has a kit as well) to use with 72 and previous shock plates.
