Hello,

What’s the best place to buy a gull wing for a ‘71 Dodge Charger?

I’m watching one on eBay for $300, but see them elsewhere and with prices widely ranging.

Thanks for the information!

Gull wing?

Oh, do you mean go wing?
Jegs has the reproduction Mopar go wings in two levels of quality.

The most accurate and best quality pieces are produced by First Place Auto Parts. This company now falls under the ownership of Trim Parts and they have a limited amount of the better quality spoilers. They feature many of the original markings as people not knowing better have confused them as being original parts. You can get them in an Organasol finish as well.

The other knock offs are just that. It all depends on quality of the piece that your wanting. Expect to pay a bit more for the FPAP piece, but the investment in a better quality piece is worth the extra dollars in my opinion.

You can purchase directly from Trim Parts or from their vendors. You may want to check on a West Coast vendor to save on the shipping due to the length of the piece. I have had several customers come back ordering the FPAP after the cheaper piece begins to bow and sag after some use.

Well I'll stand corrected!
I don't. Not knowing any better, I can't help but notice the First Place Auto Parts folks that 69bfan speaks so highly of are calling
every one of those sorts of wings that they reproduce "go wings". They'd know better than me, I reckon. *shrug*

The ones being sold by Jegs and referenced by me and Photon are those made by FPAP.

The spoilers that Josh's and the other vendors selling at the lower prices are the light weight ones that Dale's Cuda Shop puts out.

speaking of Go vs Gull, does anyone know if the mounting post spacing the same for the Go and Gull wings? my 71 chargers trunk lid is disrilled for what i assume is the Gull wing ( it wasn't there when i bought the car) but i think i like the shape of the Go wing better. but id hate to have to buy a new trunk lid just for a slightly different shaped wing

If you have an eBay account, ask this seller, he has both and would likely know.

I got mine from josh’s muscle car parts and I’m very happy with it

The spacing on both the Go wing and the Gull wing is the same for the legs. A early 71 could have come with a Go wing as well. My 71 Super Bee I had was a late August built Executive lease car that I purchased from the original titled owner. His dad was the Executive and purchased it when the lease was up. He told me the wing was the original one. It sat in in his garage for 30 years until I purchased it in 2008.

Seeing it in a photo I think I’m fully sold on getting the Go instead of the Gull. Thank you!
