Going rate for b body Dana 60?

Buy them and sell them here for a profit.
Looks like there's no shortage of interest.
I'd buy one from you. Would wire you the money in advance if necessary.
The guy can be tough to buy stuff from, I think I would be lucky if I got one away from him. If i get one, I would want to use it. If I can purchase one, I will ask about the second for you.

I paid $1K for a '67 date code hemi Dana 60 out of Canada in pieces, $400 shipping and $1K for a complete rebuild but then I needed the '67 date code for my build

And how long ago did you purchase it for 1k?

Sold one 3 months ago from a 70 E body for $3500. Had the spring pads cut off too. Could have sold it 10 times over for that.... nicks garage out of Montreal was the buyer

I would imagine "e body" is the key part to that price.

So what is the going rate to narrow a housing and spline the axles? I have a strange 60 that is for a standard 69 b body that I need narrowed to fit a 67 with a mini-tub.

Keep it stock and find another one that's modified/butchered.

I just checked the Mosier site and it looks to be around $270 for the housing modifications and the axle respline. Since this is a Strange 60....I have no qualms about cutting it. Got a heck of a deal on it for $2400 including Caltrac split monoleafs, Caltrac setup, Rancho adjustable shocks and Wilwood disc brakes. It had never been on the road, only used for mock up. I actually sold off a 69 rebuilt factory Dana 60 for $2000 to buy this one just so I wouldn't cut the factory Dana. In the end, all the Caltrac goodies only cost me $400 once I sold off the Dana.

Last time I had a B body 68-70 Dana, it sold for the asking price of 600 bucks but that happened 15-18 years ago and would say it needed rebuilding or at least I would. The cover was off for lookers and the first guy to ask about it, bought it.

I sold this one for $1200 earlier this year. It was a '69 B body with 3.54 gears. All original internally but brakes lines had been modified and a second set of perches welded on. It also had been changed over to the bigger brakes. Local guy came over and picked it up so I didn't have to ship it. I used the money to buy a new S60 from Doctor Diff with 3.23 gears and a helical differential. I think the new stuff is better than the old stuff so I wasn't sorry to see this old girl go away.

I should add that I bought this one 30 years ago from a neighbor kid who wrecked his Charger. I also bought his front disc brake setup and the Hemi transmission. I think I paid him $300 for everything.

For what an original Dana will cost, money better spent on a new one.

Agreed, depending upon what you’re looking for. $1600 for a “useable, bolt-in” is better than a $3000 new one if that’s all you really need.

There is a huge difference in price. Are we talking an original B or E body Dana with snubber mounts and numbers? Or a Dana that is cut up and fits. Junkyard stuff is cheap. Especially the 8 lug stuff. Cut the ends and brackets off, get the right axles, add ends, perches, or your choice of mounts and go. Chances are the 3.54 or 4.10 gear set is usable. Grab one with traction lock diff even better. The last one we did for under 1K w/o labor which I did myself. Bought a spool, axles, ends, perches, yoke. Reused the bearings and the gear (still in my sons 3750lb 9.50 car with trans brake).

Yup, that’s how I did 2 dana’s.

It all depends on which B-Body you are talking about as well. The 66-70 shorter ones are more abundant and therefor better priced. 2k to 2.5k is what the market is getting, yes you can find cheaper but it also depends on the car. If a person has a 100k Hemi Charger and needs the correct diff for his car well he will buy the older one with the stampings on it etc... because it wont take away from the value of the car. I have a 71 B-Body Dana that came out of a 71 Hemi GTX, I was lucky to find it because it's the rarest of all the Dana's. Is it worth more?? Only to the person restoring a 71 or 72 B-Body and needs the correct diff for his car to make it as original as possible. Myself I think realistically if I was to sell it I would go about 2300 for it. It's on my 79 Magnum and was a bolt on, exactly the same width.
