RE: '72 SSP project vehicle.

It seems the factory installed both felt-like bumpers/guides and rubber bumpers/guides on the inside door skins to channel and protect all the side glass. With time, the felt guides look like they are still hanging in there (barely) but the rubber ones I think have disintegrated into pieces which exposes the glass to sharp metal edges.

I am not certain what the rubber guides looked like or how they were secured (or how many there were originally). I don't remember seeing them for sale anywhere. I think what I have left are just the "pedestals" that the rubbers sat on.

I think the window glass will be prone to scratches if some kind restoration does not take place. I purchased a rubber squeegee today at Home Depot and I was thinking about cutting up the rubber blade into pieces in order to substitute for the missing factory parts.

Anyone have any experience fiddling around with this stuff? Thank you.

If I remeber correctly, you can buy repair kits for your side windows. Check R/T Specialties or Year One, possibly Classic Industries also.

Good Luck!

I already have the full set of cat whiskers, Thank you.

The rubber parts I was referring to are only about an inch long and go inside the door a little way below the top of the door. Must keep the glass from rattling and/or getting scratched on the way up and down.

Thanks for the above link. They must be called "door glass up stop bumpers" according to DMT!

Here's what they look like. There are two per door. This pair was removed from a '73 Charger. One is felt and the other is rubber. I've also seen ones that have a fuzzy whisker on them (not pictured).

I have multiple sets of these in better condition if you want to go with originals.

Those are two diff brackets. The felted one is to keep the glass supported while going up and down, and not just by the catwisker strips. The other one is a bumper stop to the glass plastic stop

For the felt one, I used 1/2 of a Velcro sticker, not the rough side obviously but the smoother cloth type side. No need to use glue and works fine.
