I think a lot of that is just the nature of posts similar to texts....they can always be read the wrong way...

I stated before the actual score didn’t matter to me. The most important thing is what I have said and restated in my video, “one day I will have a story to tell my pops about his car”. That’s it!

Everyone and there brother was asking and texting me before the unveiling and yesterday about points. It literally drove me nuts to be honest. They weren’t doing anything wrong but they knew it would score high and just wanted to know. So I relayed everything to the masses here or via text.

I knew the car was Gold before I started to assemble it. The score doesn’t matter to me but maybe to every person asking me out of curiosity....that’s fine and they wanted to know what got deducted.....no problem.....

As I mentioned earlier to score 990 and above is a phenomenal feat.....if someone doesn’t think I am pleased well than you really don’t know me because I am Ecstatic.

Now I got a few areas to correct in the future and gives me a year to relax....

Thank you for the compliments! Yes, if the Nats are here next year we will hang out longer I hope!

Now in regards to the judges.....there is no need to knock them....the competition is between the owner and their car. They are human and make mistakes and after the judging is done the owner can disagree and have those particular things re-evaluated....

I chose not to disagree. I was happy with the score and to fight for a point or two would have been just plain stupidity....

The judges I had in my car were outstanding and nice guys...

You passed with flying colors:lowdown:. I could never speak in public let alone on a mic, it would be an absolute train wreck so my hats off to you.

As of this past weekend I dug back into my own Dad project, hoping to get this truck on the road by Spring so he can enjoy it.
 
A score like 995 is incredible. Especially when you think about all the items that are involved. Five measly points from being perfect! Who would argue with that?

It just goes to show how meticulous your work is and the results show it. Not everyone can say that and it's really a milestone that no one can take from you. I understand the sentimental meaning that you have for the car also. The best thing is, not just yourself can share the rewards from your efforts.

Thanks for getting back Devin....for months I was spinning in my head what to do and say and I even thought writing it down....on Friday I said screw that....it wouldn’t be natural so I decided to speak naturally and that was more real in my opinion.

My biggest fear was to breakdown too much on the mic and I did a bit but held it well. That was the toughest part. Ohh and then I had about 30 or more people in my face and about five photographers.

I surprised myself to be honest!

Get on that dad project those stories will carry forever!

Knowing you and your Taste.. I always place a lot of weight in your knowledge....you get it and nailed it....the score tells the overall end product......

There are some that would argue if it was only a half a point......

The basis of that is in paradise I am going to sit beside him and say, pops you remember the old beat up 20 footer X. Wel, I had to build a perfect car for a perfect father......let me tell you what I did with your car!

The judges at MCACN have a thankless job. They are asked to judge all models from different decades and from different plants. No one has that kind of knowledge base and they work off of accepted knowledge across the spectrum. Many of the things I saw points deducted for were for things that would have been done at the factory.

With this said, I never criticize without offering a solution. Here are my thoughts. Develop the judging teams on the following criteria.

1. Production plant.
2. Production year.
3. Body type.
4. Model

I have spoken to many judges at the show over the years and they are all committed to doing the best job possible. They do accept input if they ask for it.

If any judges are reading this, THANK YOU for doing what you do.

Also, to add to your list is time......As the day progresses the judges get rushed by the head judge. They should have the same time window for every car.

They initially came by my car before 9 in the morning but they cannot judge a car that hasn't been veiled on show day. So they came back around 3pm.....It took an hour and a half....

So guys imagine if they have 10 cars to judge.....and during the process are being ask by the head judge. Where are you guys at in the process.....

They do have a thankless job and the three that were on my car were wonderful guys and very friendly and professional...

Justin, I'm sorry it took me so long to come back. It grieved my spirit when I saw how my poorly written post hurt someone I respect and admire so much. I thought it best to wait for time to heal the wounds before attempting a reply.

Sorry for the curve ball, Justin. I always threw side-armed when I played baseball.

That was the case. No need to apologize. Sometimes things get misinterpreted on forums and text messages. This time it was a combination of me not expressing myself well via online text and bad timing. I should have been more sensitive to how you were feeling about the judging and that you were probably tired from the whole weekend and traveling to get home. I was trying to express how bad I felt for you that after so much trouble with the sail panels and trying so hard to get that specific part of the car right (as you did on every aspect of the build) they still dinged you on it, even though to many it looks perfect. The bit about the carpet grommet was an inside joke since we had talked about that in a PM and afterwards you decided to remove the grommet. I guess it wasn't funny.

I'll try to do better creating my posts before I hit that POST REPLY button.

You know me well enough by now that I would never write a post with the intent to hurt someone or take a dig at anyone. In the future, please call me if you think I may have written something that could be misconstrued.

I do appreciate that clarification....We are Mopar brothers ...and as you know brothers do got toe to toe at times but after that we defend each other to the end......

We all have done the same, myself included....It falls in the nature of our passion.....

The grommet thing after the first point came across to me as a dig and not a joke.....Thats said I bet if we were at the show talking about this we would be laughing our head off...Thats the problem with postings and texts.....

The sail panel on that side gave me a fit, literally.....I had it in and off probably 10 times...Purchased multiple sealers and adhesive strips to hold it flush.....Sweating in the backseat during the Texas summer(even though I had AC in the garage)...I said "screw it" done, no mas it is what it is lol......

I could have fought that because factory ones fit the same but it wasnt worth a point since I already scored high......

The thing that pissed me off the most and I can only be mad at myself was the washer bottle......All other things the picked except for the blemish on the trim and the WB I was aware of......
