Has any one here done a large 340 stroker? Looking to do a 414 or 426 motor, Thanks

4"stroke (416) is pretty standard. 4.25"+ stroke is on the bigger end.

Have a 416 in my Duster. Pretty basic street/strip build up; IMM ported iron heads, solid cam, Holley Strip Dominator intake, 10:1 short block, TTi step headers, etc. Made 500.2 HP (yeah, I'm proud of that .2!) on the dyno with a basic, conservative tune. Torque was just under 500 ft lbs and was pretty flat between 3,000-5,500 rpm.

What car is this going in? What is the intended application?

You mike ask Mike Hemirunner, I think he's done a couple 400 sb's

What did you do with your W2 heads?

Getting beyond basic block prep and any oiling mods for big solid or roller cams, just simply sonic check your block for the available overbore capability.

Hughes engines has lots in 4.00 & 4.18.

I have only seen the 4.25 stroke crank for sale by a fella on Moparts. Search for member Rod Bloomer. (http://www.bloomerperformance.com/)
If he is still doing them.... He has the whole deal in one kit eliminating piston searches and problems ordering them. I don’t off hand remember who makes the 4.25 crank. I couldn’t find the cranks on the quick search.

Did a Bloomer 4.125 stroke in a 424/360, does that count? Oh, I guess not, as it isn't a 414 or 426 for a 340.

What did you do with your W2 heads?

Nothing, they are sitting on my shelf.

BTW, I have a BPE (Bloomer) crank in my 416, nice piece for the money.

Again, I'm curious to see what this would be going in, don't see many B bodies with small blocks. A 440" small block might be kinda unique in a B barge.

408, 416, 418, 422". None for B bodies though. Highest HP was 610 w/o the spray but that was some years ago.

It’s going in my first mopar a 1971 challenger it’s a factory 340 non rt shaker car. I’m taking out a 511 hemi to put it in a 1968 4 door satilite I going to build a sleeper out of it and something I can drive when the weather is crappy I have other b bodies that I don’t like to dive in the rain. Looking to get 500hp+. What would be the best heads that would look stock? Thanks

The older W2s look stock. But the intake will give it away and IMO the cost is prohibitive. The other alternative is porting the factory heads which will also work, but cost a bit to get done. If you have power brakes a real 500+hp small block, like one that makes 500+ in the chassis and runs the numbers for it, won't have enough vacuum to run power brakes.

The best heads that look stock?

IMO

W2’s. & the dual plane intake for it.

Manual 4 wheel disk brakes 4 speed 373 Dana
Who makes a good headers for the W2 heads? Will TTI work?

"Looks stock" would seem to indicate you want iron heads? If so, I would suggest RHS "Indy" X heads. Again, I have them on my 416 and they do the job. Mine went through a CNC program and flow a hair under 300 CFM. Exhaust ports are untouched. Takes all standard rocker gear, intake and exhaust. Ported RHS/X heads, roller cam and 'good' intake will get your number. Hughes sells them in a few flavors, can't get them from Summit anymore. Not sure who/where they are being cast these days.

W2s can flow at least 300 + but will require significant porting. OOTB they are around 250-260 CFM but no one runs them OOTB. W2s require specific offset rocker gear, specific intakes ( most versions are raised, oval ports) and have a specific exhaust bolt pattern. Based on that, W2s can get expensive if you're starting from scratch. Porting will put you beyond reasonable cost for a street head.

Unless it's an all out effort, the RHS heads are a better deal. 500 HP is not too hard (especially if I can make it happen) but you need headers and an intake which could give away the stock look.

TTi makes W2-specific headers. I have them, they work good. The flanges are dual pattern (W2/standard LA). 1 3/4- 17/8 step headers w. 3" collectors. Not sure if they offer an E body version.

For 500hp you need 250cfm in the lift range of the camshaft. Most average heads available will do that, but great heads will do that at lower lifts, and give you more power with the same camshaft. A simple RPM intake can make 500hp with the right other parts, but keeping the Shaker may take some custom work.

rmchrg what did the RHS heads cost to get them on the engine?
