Does anyone make reproduction fender tags ? Mine, like many others I’m sure is painted. I wanted to entertain the idea of buying a new reproduction one if there is such a thing ?

Don't go there.

Data tags can make one from your build sheet if you have one.

BS don’t tell you what was coded and when during the year.
BS don’t contain all info found on some tags.

A BS will help, but other info is needed as well.

Poorly remade and badly remade tags bring up questions on the legitimacy of the car and the integrity of the owner.

The are few good reasons to have a repo tag made unless you have the original as a template.

My bad tag is a product of Data Tags.

Just because someone makes tags doesn’t mean they know what goes on the tag or proper formats.

I’ve seen good money spent on bad tags from Data Tags.

I don’t have a build sheet. Im not a fanatic to the point I care what other people think in reference to my car. It’s mine, don’t intend to ever sell it. But, if I did. I could just put the original back on. Some people get too caught up in authenticity sometimes. I understand if someone is looking to buy and forking out a lot of money or looking to win a prize. But, those kind of people that nit pick things to death get on my nerves, lol ! “ Hey, your steering wheel medallion is not original. “ “ Really bud ? You have to point that out to me, lol ! “

We all understand and appreciate the sentiment behind what you are saying here now....but in certain circumstances...the owner dies, and the estate sells the car. Unwittingly selling the car with a bogus tag, innocently as well, the next owner then discovers what appears to be fraud.
Cans of worms get opened , and all of a sudden, the deceased owner's 'bit of fun' turns into a nightmare for all involved.

My 2 cents worth.

These type of threads pop up every 2-3 months, and always end the same way.

Unless you’re a vampire, and will live for all of eternity, your car is going to get sold.

Do you have the original?

why is a painted tag a problem?

I didn't know that having a FT wins a prize?

If your not concerned about your cars originality than why get a bogus fender tag made? You already do not have a BS...Whats next? Get one of those made also?

BTW what wrong with your original painted tag? Why is it not on the car? Just weird....

This is the “rationalize and justify defense”.

“It’s mine”, “won’t sell”, “will replace”...yadda yardda yadda . We’ve heard it all before and the arguments still don’t hold up.

There is no valid reason to replace a lost/damaged tag with a repop tag.

If it doesn’t matter, then it doesn’t matter.

All this fuss over paint on the Fender Tag...they are supposed to be painted - same colour as the car. Unless the tag is a different colour to the car, I don't see the issue.

We come across people that have bought cars thinking they had something when actually they didn't. You will not live forever. Someone will sell your car. The next owner may not be well versed in spotting a repopped tag and spend more than the car is actually worth. It is not about prizes but more about just being honest.(I am not calling you dishonest) Please avoid possible confusion later by not doing a repopped tag now.

Said it before and will say it again:
There's a special place in car enthusiast hell for people who have fake VIN and fender tags made for their cars.

I don't buy for one second this notion of "it doesn't matter to me and it's my car."
Ok fine, if that's the way you see it - but then why go to the effort to make a fake tag if it doesn't matter?
