my 8.25 diff in my 78 magnum is shot. I want to upgrade to a 9.5, will a 9.25 from a early Ramcharger fit width wise? or will I have to hunt for one, out of a magnum or Cordoba?

I'm pretty sure you'll need a magnum/Cordoba. However.....years ago I had a '77 Cordoba and a shop installed an 8-3/4" rear end, "supposedly" from a '75 Charger, but I suspect maybe a '74 Charger or similar. Point is... and 8-3/4" will fit, is stronger & has the drop-out center section making gear changes easy....just sayin'. At least in my case, a smog 400 4bbl to non-smog warmed over 440 4bbl, the stock 9-1/4" rear end didn't last through the engine break-in period.

I have an 8-3/4 that was in my 1978 Magnum XE. PM me if you're interested.

I installed a 8 3/4 in my 75 Charger from a 71 Road Runner. Bolts right in. Use the early shock mounts to replace the Iso-rubber on the springs.

Because I don’t know, how is the 8-3/4 stronger than the 9-1/4?

Good question..... it's just what I've heard + my bad experience with the 9-1/4" that spit out an axle while breaking in the 440 in my '77 Cordoba years ago. I had never put my foot down & it broke. I put my foot down A LOT with the 8-3/4" and it never broke. One guy, one car.
