This Mike from ND. Back in the Fall of 1972, when I was 18 and single, I bought a new 72 Roadrunner 340 4 speed, which I still have, my High School car. Unfortunately because of priority changes, marriage, family, work and then a divorce, I parked my Roadrunner in 1988 after the second engine lost oil pressure. It was always in the back of my mind to getting running again but the years racked up. In 2017 just before Thanksgiving two bulges in my lower back laid me up and I was off work till March. I could hardly walk, I couldn't sleep. Then during this time my Wife started having balance issues, falling a couple times and had body function issues. An MRI showed she had three bulges in her neck pressing on the spinal cord. She could loose her ability to walk if she didn't have surgery ASAP. Surgery in June took out the bulge and put in a 6 inch metal strap with 8 screws in her vertebrae. Recovery is at least 8 months so I was off work again attending to her. This got us thinking we're not getting any younger. In September after 30 years, I brought my Roadrunner home to restore it. It's in better shape than I expected but it's way above my skill level. So I found this site to learn from others and see if I can get this done. First picture is from the late 70s the second is from this September.

I don't. Little overwhelming. I did pull the 318 it had and I pulled the interior to expose the rust in the floor.

What a great story in regards to the car, you have most definitely found a really good site to help with your build, I would also suggest find a car club or car guy's who can help you, car guys are some of the most helpful resourceful dude's on planet earth, Lol if, your willing to put your best foot forward good luck and please keep us posted.

Hi Mike, I like your back story. Original owner makes that car more special in my view! I'm looking forward to watching you bring it back...
:welcome:

Thanks for sharing your story and welcome to the forum...

One idea is to create a build here and you will be amazed at the people that will view and chime in...

Welcome to the forum.
Good luck on getting your high school
sweetheart back on the road

Welcome aboard from NJ. Nice car and story. You are in the right place now. By the way, I have bought parts from a guy in your neck of the woods. "The Dakota Connection" His name is Byron Fettig, nice guy and good parts at a reasonable price. Here is his phone number if you need something in particular: (701-222-4362) he's in Bismarck. His web site is (http://www.mmcdetroit.com/THEDAKOTACONNECTION/). Good Luck! :)

Welcome from Georgia.

Mike, welcome to the site from mid Michigan (and originally from sw ND). Take lots of pics, and bag and tag all the small parts when you start disassembly. Is it pretty solid rust wise? ND cars are generally pretty clean as they use sand (use to anyway) rather than salt in the winter.
