Was told by Mancini Racing, the fabricated valve covers which i love (see pic), will not fit if you

are running an MSD distributor on big block.....anybody with this experience?

Mancini is very reputable. I do seem to recall something in the Edelbrock website about their heads having clearance issues with the MSD distributors, so I believe Mancini's claim about the valve covers. I've never run a MSD distributor, but I suppose they're a little bit larger diameter vs. the factory style distributors.

I had a set (forgot what mfg) and yes they did not fit with MSD dist.

Just got a set of their wide body fab covers and they said no fit with MSD. OK with that as I will be running a FBO or stock style electronic.

MSD, don't appear to be wider than stock so maybe they're shorter?? Firecore "RTR" distributors with vacuum advance won't fit Indy heads because the body is longer but their other distributors will. Just mentioning this to illustrate the distributor differences.

A lot of aftermarket parts don't fit. I assume nothing fits until I have it in my hands and verify that it does actually fit.

I currently have Mopar Performance electronic distributor, and runs fine. Was thinking of MSD down the street gor an upgrade, but maybe the MP is just as good as an MSD?
That being said, if so, i can still look for chrome fabricated covers!

I read the distributors diameter has contact issues with the head- not the valve covers, slight massage of the corner of the head required. I had the same issue with my Accell race /point style distributor- I modified the dist rather than the head. very minimal material removal. so -buy the valve covers ,if they interfere I'll take them~~.
I'm old school and I still prefer the 70's style Accell race distributor with duel points. if interested I can tell you why.

you might consider this- yo ucan make an extension ad raise the dist,I've also seen distributors with a long base.?I had to extend the magneto on my 392 Hemi to clear the blower manifold, I did not want to grind on the manifold or my NOS Schieffer magneto

440source makes nice ones that will fit !

at the risk of repeating myself (I've been warned about that ) I found out last night- due to having one "in stock" the dipstick tube for the 44o engine motorhomes is the same tube. they just clamped on extension to get the dipstick to the front by the radiator. got one on the desk in front of me now~glad I still save parts-n-chit.
