!969 Dodge Charger 383 with power steering and no A/C. Recommendations for headers that will fit the first time without hammering, cussing, yelling at neighbors, throwing tools, smashing important stuff or require the sacrifice of a virgin. I have read so many reviews of items "guaranteed to fit" that hit torsion bars, won't clear starters, require modification with a BFH......I'm blue in the face. Folks at Moparforums.com assured me the bunch of lugnuts on this forum would have the best info.

What's a Header?

Bring it to my shop to have it done. You will only cuss once...........when you see the bill !

Best bet is to buy some pre bashed headers I have a set for you.. TTI 1 7/8 primaries all ready hammered to fit.

TTIs will fit the best and cost the most....I had to put one small ding near the steering linkage but that's it, but I have a 440 with Edelbrock heads. The Hookers I ran before needed much bashing to clear spark plugs and torsion bars.

I put new hooker competition ceramics on my 440 GTX and they, fit just fine at a price significantly lower than TTIs. TTIs are probably the best and also cost the most - but are not your only option. I have no dings or dents in my Hookers and life is good.

Hedmans ought to come with an 8 lb sledgehammer in the box.
Just sayin'.

Schumacher Tri Ys , they are not a long tube so they do not make the same power increase, But they are better than cast iron manifolds and are no problem to install. easy plug changes, and you can use full size or mini starter.

67 coronet , ps, & auto column shift, the shifter bell crank has to come off and then back on once the header is on.
I didn't have to jack up the engine ect, both sides slide right in, driver side from the top , passenger from the bottom.
Also plugs have to be out of course.

My TTI 1-7/8” RB headers fit without so much as a scuff.

I know you have a B engine, but I’d buy TTI based off of how well mine fit and the quality

Next go around with a low deck stroker in the 68 will get Dougs with Hi temp black coating. At least they make one for B or RB apps. Have a set of Patriots now, not to bad of a fit easy install but of course they hit the torsion bars both sides. A little bit of hammering and all is OK.

The Doug's headers fit exactly like the TTI headers and they are about $200 less and cost that's what I would go with if you go with the cheapy header or a Hooker header you better buy a big sledgehammer and maybe some pry bars mine went right in

Mine fit perfectly and real easy install. Free too. Oh, wait, they're manifolds. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Doug’s D452 with edelbrock rpm heads and head studs you have to grind header flange to clear head studs

Only headers I've ever had to heat were the cheap $100 summit special s
