I have a lot of over-spray from paint and adhesives on some of my windows. This is build-up that typical glass cleaner won't cut. I was thinking I'd use acetone, or maybe even lacquer thinner if it's harmless to the glass.

Does anyone have any input on this? Thank you!

0000 steel wool and rubbing alcohol
Follow up with newspaper soaked in hot water. Scrub hard.
Glass polish to finish.

Load the window with foaming glass cleaner and scrape with single edge razor blade. Keep it wet.

After that use something like Bartenders Firend or Bonami.

Lacquer thinner - why the hell not, you're cleaning glass - it ain't gonna melt !!! Don't get any on the paint !!!

I like the razor blade approach (just did this on my car). Your solvent idea is good, but you have to watch the paint as others have said.

I recently did this before putting my glass back in to get rid of 50 yrs of build up and scratches. Get a small buffing wheel with foam pad and use a fine buffing compound, then super fine compound on the whole window. This was after going over the whole window with wd40 and razor blade then cleaning with wax and grease remover. If they are really bad you could wet sand with 1500, 2000, 3000 then buff.
