Since I have owned my 69 RR (about a year), it has had a strange periodic glitch. Every once in a while, the car will be completely dead....not even a click with the turn of the key. I can tell when this is happening, because when I open the door, the dome light won't come on. This issue occurs completely randomly, sometimes after the car has been sitting for a period of time, and sometimes after it has been recently driven. Over the past year it has happened maybe 5 times.

The issue is resolved simply by disconnecting the positive battery terminal and reconnecting it. Once that is done, everything is normal.

Thoughts?

It's possible that your positive cable is bad internally and you can't see it. I've heard a couple folks here complain of bad cables.
I assume the battery connection itself is clean and tight.

Next time it happens, disconnect the negative side...
See what happens: fixed or not.
That will help you to isolate the issue.

All good advice about. My first three guesses
a. bulkhead disconnect
b. + battery cable and/or connection
c. - battery cable and/or connection
d. fusible link

ok, that's four guesses
I'm not sure if this could be the ignition switch???? I don't think the power of the dome light goes through it.
