And now Eddelbrock sucks too!

The parts I bought all say made in the usa on them, but my engine builder said that he has had to rework brand new heads right out of the box. I asked him if he has had to rework Edelbrock heads to,and he said that he has had to rework some Edelbrock heads as well. He said not as often as other brands, but he said you would be surprised to see how many heads and intake manifolds are not true right out of the box.
Talking to them I'd say all of those parts are made in the USA, if they say made in America I'd say they are. As far as reworking heads go, that's very typical of almost all brands. I'm helping a good friend on a motor right now and his Stealth heads ate the guides in 3,000 miles because of cheap materials. He decided to go with Trickflows and have the shop go through them, they were very pleased with the quality but still felt the guides were a bit tight and opened them up. There's a huge difference between factory workers assembling heads for shipment and a professional engine builder, the professional knows where to look for possible issues and addresses them saving you headaches down the road. When buying heads I always have my shop order them in and go through them before installation, cheap insurance and they almost always find something.

It was only a matter of time.

The unintended consequences of the rampant support companies like 440 source, proform, the Chinese stuff Mancini sells, etc....get from lots and lots of mopar folks, is why a company like edelbrock has no choice but to outsource some stuff to remain competitive.

The only was to curb this (and it’s probably too late anyhow) is to not give in and buy cheap Chinese junk!

Stop buying Chinese **** and justifying it by the lower cost, “i’m only gonna use it once” (harbor freight), etc.....excuses.

I know it costs more and money is limited, but that great savings you got on those Chinese goods, has consequences.

This isn’t directed at you 747, just my opinion on the current state of manufacturing regarding hot rod parts.
That's 100% right, if you keep buying cheap stuff it forces others to either offer their own cheap stuff or loose business. I'm a stickler for buying American made whenever possible. Ask me where every single appliance in my house is made?

I drive my wife crazy with looking for made in the USA products.
I’ve left stores and bought used, USA made stuff, on eBay because I can’t buy a new item made here.

Another unfortunate consequence is that the stuff that is made here suffers, quality wise, because the competition from 1/2 price Chinese junk drives them to cut corners to compete.

I agree with buying American , if possible, in my case I wouldn`t have what I have w/o getting the best deal.
Kind of all or nothing in my case.
The trick is to have them cnc`d here in America on heads !

At a show, talking to the guys from Edelbrock at their truck, carburetors were the subject. I was told by them to buy the Eddy remans. That surprised me. Reason is the remans are built by one person start to finish. Not on the assembly line where mistakes are made.Been doing that ever since, never a problem.
As far as the aftermarket heads go they should all be checked, whoever makes 'um. I've gotten a set of big block MOPAR heads that were mis-matched with different spring pressures.Something the head shop caught that I didn't,expecting them to be right out of the box.Yep, wiped the cam and had to start all over again. Best to check first.
On a set of 440 Source heads,The shop went thru 'um finding very narrow seat margins, and changing out the retainers and keepers to Comp 10* that 440 them self recomended when I got the heads.I also had Comp springs but the shop was pleased with the springs that came on the heads.

The source heads are a popular choice, not only because of the price, but they look like stock castings. If you are looking for horsepower through aluminum heads that flow, but want the stock appearance, they are the only option on the market currently that I am aware of.

I make/have made my own stuff when I can. Adapter to use unsilenced factory 340 air cleaner with a factory 2-barrel Carter carburetor. (I read reviews the plastic adapter I purchased will warp over time):

Brings to mind a bumper sticker I saw in 2006 that has stuck ever since:
"Hungry? Out of work? Eat your import!".
Relating to mfg'rs out sourcing to stay competitive.
Simple truth is consumers buying non USA have forced this dilemma.

I got the same carb adapter in the mail today. I bought it knowing I would have to do a little polishing and de barb the thing what I absolutely did not realize was that the damn studs the package with it aren’t even long enough to make it through the adapter plate! The is insane I can’t believe Edelbrock would even license suck a poor product!

No hijack intended. Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 EFI is the best thing since the wheel.

Sounds debatable based on what is read here. SoCal jobs for sure. Tech support is great too.
