b569Charger, take a look at the attaching points of the splash shield. It appears that a screw was used in the hole towards the radiator. I am not sure if it is a rivet in the back hole. The point of this message is that various production methods were used depending upon the plant and time frame of the car. Not sure of why the shield was broke, but for the sake of correctness, look at the other side and check out the attaching method. The most common method is rivets. I do not believe that I have ever seen a 69 B-Body using screws to hold the splash shield in place from the factory. Removing the shield will not impact the car in any way. This is a part that you can source in either a good used part or as a reproduction. One thing to take into consideration is that there were two different styles of these splash shields. Yours as pictured is the straight bottom style. there is the single angle bottom style as well. We include the correct rivets with the reproduction shields that we provide to the different vendors. Good used ones can be cleaned with a strong cleaner as most have years of grease and undercoating on them and then a light coat of Semi Black paint will having it looking all new and fresh again.
