Advice for 1970 Sport Satellite

OK so the initial plan is to assume that the bottom end is ok. I drained all the fluids and poured fresh motor oil into the lifter valley and marvel mystery oil To coat the cylinders. I ordered a complete gasket set and oil pickup tube from Summit along with a good head spring compressor tool.
I have a machinist straight edge I can check for flatness. I plan to break down the heads and lap the valves myself. I just am not sure about how to tell if the seats have been hardened or not. I have a few kocal machine shops I can take them to to check if I have to as I don’t own a metal hardness gage......
You have a good plan....it's gonna work out fine this time!

Jeff

Thanks guys for the help and encouragement! It goes a long way. I will update you when I get some more effort completed!

Ok after much ado here is where I am at. This is a built 340 with high flow water pump and 60gph fuel pump and a Holly Double Pumper. Messing around with air cleaners (more on that later). The 904 has also been built with steel drums and shift kit and other goodies.
The only issue I have is with the MSD dizzy being too high interfering with the wiper motor. I just leaned that there are 3 MSD dizzies with differing shaft length. Looks like I need the 8 inch. Going to run an MSD 6AL with this.
Guess you can tell what color the car will be as well lol..

Very nice. Maybe pep boys will have a air cleaner that will work for you?

Hiya Bill! The story behind the air cleaners in the picture is an old interesting one. The one on the car is one I got for the 318. Not a performance air cleaner really but it matched my black valve covers. However the one on the fender I used on my corvette for synonym tuning. That air cleaner flowed better than no air cleaner and was worth 29HP over the 14x4 air cleaner I was running. I thought I would try it but the drop base didn’t clear the Hlley.

Nice looking engine bay. I have the same air cleaner in raw unpainted form on our 65 Barracuda. I also have a Satellite, but a 68. From Az originally, Bisbee to be exact. Glad things are moving along for ya and great to see all the fellowship and help this forum has to offer! Read the entire thread tonight.

Try me!

She is looking good!

That air cleaner needs to go on your daughters car!

Well, any updates? Hopefully the car is running and driving.

Hey Ron ... looks like you are making some progress. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Jim, been out of it for a while. Had a shop help me a bit but they did a real amateur job. How is your car coming along?
