66/67 Charger fender trim needs cleaning. I remember that someone posted using a gutter and a chemical><? mixed with water. Soak the trim for awhile and it removes all stains etc ?? any one know what chemical it is ? thanks

Rooto 100% lye drain cleaner available at most stores. I used some on my grille along with easy-off heavy duty oven cleaner and a 3M green pad. Then lotsa, lotsa polishing.

66383- I think you mean the anodized aluminium pieces (peak molding) and not the fender spears, which are chrome. I wouldn’t recommend a green pad on chrome.

Yup, and don’t put thin aluminum pieces in a strong lye solution or you’ll be wondering where they went. If any of the parts start fizzing that’s a bad thing. I once dissolved most of a Berretta handgun with a different solution, but that’s a story for a different forum...
When I was a teen I used to do the Easy Off treatment on parts in the bathtub. My Mom swore she’d kill me if she ever caught me. I would wait until she went to work, then soak away. Did literally tons of parts and it worked great. She never found out.
Be careful of toxic fumes.

A friend took a bunch of the anodized finish off a SIG pistol, by soaking in simple-green. The gun was new, and he was pissed. He wouldn't spring for gun-cleaners. LOL

Sorry, was thinking anodized, not chrome. I'll try to do better.
