NOT MINE...Original owner...

I posted a CL add back in the late summer of an identical car. It looked great in photos, but I never went to look at it. The owner wanted $8500. I am sure that it wasnt pristine, but at that price it could be made outstanding for less than 32k.

That is a nice car but it is a 73 SE. If it were a Rallye they might get close to that. I can see a buyer in the 20-25k range and it would take a while to get that. I sold a similar original paint car, (needing very little) on here a few months ago but Lemon Twist and it brought $12,500

Opportunities like This rarely shows up I'll say, go and check the car, negotiate with the owner and BUY THE CAR if you like it you're gonna regret it later if you don't imho.

One thing for sure, they don't make 'um like that anymore.
Make a offer, see if they counter.

as t29r pointed out similar cars do come up now and then

...and they are asking what IMO is absolute top dollar for that one.

doubt if it would get bid up that high on a TV auction.

There's a couple of ways to look at this, First, we're mad it's not a total restore for the money. Second, how much would it cost to get it to look as good as it does, hell the exhaust tips new are 300 and up. It's an unmolested survivor and many place a big value on that and last but not least, if you like it do what I would do, buy it and drive it till you're both dead. I'm to old for regrets and where we're going there is no ATM.... Let The Horses Run!

I agree with YY1 on the seats. The rear seats look to be correct, but I didn't see any pictures of the front seats except one picture caught the front corner of one of the front seats. The front seat pattern....maybe even shape....doesn't match up. You would be a thousand into getting the proper seats and covers to make it all match up if that is the case.

Otherwise a beautiful car....but at that price it would have to be perfect.....and exactly what you want. Back in the day a high school buddy had the identical triple black car....with a factory sunroof. I always drooled over the car. The only issue was that after a night of drinking....the friend riding shotgun projectile puked onto the dash and it ran down the defroster vents. It took a long time for that smell to go away!

grab them now prices are only going up on cars of the past

Beautiful car. The back seat is correct but what I saw of the front seat, that would be incorrect. He will probably sell for 29/30k.

I am not super knowledgeable on the pricing for the 71 to 74 Chargers, but pretty up to date on restoration cost. If this car is as original as claimed and exhibits no signs of repair or upcoming issues, then your far ahead in buying this car vs purchasing a lesser car and dumping thousands of dollars to bring it to the level of this car.

The big thing is that these cars are growing in desirability, but I feel that they will never have the following of the 68 to 70 Chargers. They are like the 66 to 67 Chargers. You either like them or you keep on moving along. So if your looking to make a purchase of this nature, make it because you really like the car, not what all of us here in the internet world type.

Prices in general for the Mopar muscle cars are down 15 to 30% over the past 18 months. The one group of cars that has not seen this down turn are the true survivors with documentation. True collectors are searching out documented survivors and paying premium dollars over the price of restored cars which have been completely redone and will never reach the level of a truly nice original survivor.

This car falls within this realm and would warrant a go see if it was what the buyer is looking for.

I Know where there are two bb twins to this car sitting in a warehouse covered in dust in Chicago

Yep the front seats are incorrect.
I had a iridescent metallic green w/white top 73, rallies and 318 back in 78. Wife (ex) tried to tear off the rear quarters. She was hell on vehicles. Too lazy to play musical cars even after I asked her to. I had to drive her 72 400 Monaco to the dentist and got the call from the ER she crashed. She was mad when I asked about the car-she was ok as she made the call. Wimmen don't understand that.
I drove it for a few more years (185k) and traded it on a 81 Charger 2.2. Saw the 73 many years later still running with over 300k on it.
Wish I still had it.

I would do 25k on this one no problem.

Beautiful!

Nice ride. Looks like the front seat has aftermarket seat covers on them, based on the pattern of the corner seen in the one front pic and the straps in the picture of the back seat. So either the owner wanted to protect the original seats, didn't like to sweat on the vinyl so put on covers or more likely, the front seats are in bad shape and need restoring.

Start low and work from there, I should have said that first. I really thought that went with out saying it. If you can afford it as I said before, buy it!
That is as high as I am willing to go. I am going to call and see what his bottom line is.

NADA guide says $22,750 high retail

73 Charger SE
400cid
A/C

https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1973/Dodge/Charger-Special-Edition/2-Door-Hardtop/Values

it doesn't account for
the mileage
wheel options
triple black color (X9 ?) options
or being a survivor, if it really is one

car looks nice in photos,
nothing like seeing it with your own eyes

so if it is what it's claimed to be
your $25k offer
IMHFO isn't far off, from what they (NADA) recommend

if it was org. a Calif. or west/southwest car
(dryer roads, with no salt or very little rust etc.),
then it may bring more too

IMO $32k is too high,
but if you love it, it's what you want,
it is what they claim it is, you only live once,
they are getting harder to find,
especially in org. good &/or survivor condition
I say go for it

Gen 3's, they are getting more of a loyal following,
of late, then they use to
(maybe since 68-70's prices are thru the roof)
$17,500 is the retail high on a 74 Charger base models

I'd love to do a 71 R/T 4 sp. pref. someday,
after I do a day 2, 68 GTS 383 Convertible
or a 68 Barracuda Formula S 383 1st...:poke:
it's a bucket-list item, If I can ever afford it again...
