hi folks, looking for your suggestions on how to address this alignment issue in the photo. Other than this fitment issue everything else lines up. Original doors and new AMD fenders on both sides. The driver side fits perfect, only the passenger side has this issue.

The only solution I’ve come up with so far is to cut the inner fender brace (small V shape) to allow the fender to bend in the middle and push out to where I can the then tack and re weld the brace back up. This may throw off other fitment at the bottom but I don’t have to make up much so might be okay.

Thoughts??

do you have a spoon? like this?

that might help to get that roll out you need.. its just a thought..

Im not sure what the inner structure of the fender looks like..

or the door has to go in a hair.. off the door hinge itself.. not off the post.

I think your on the right track. It may bend if you support the top and bottom with the fender laying horizontal. Just step on the inner brace a little at a time. Cushion it and measure your progress.

Thanks for the responses guys. Going to sleep on it and probably try cutting the inner brace to allow the fender to bend out in the middle a little. Will let you know how it goes.

Open to other suggestions if anyone has any thoughts!

I'd be doing as 493 Mike suggested before cutting anything. I fitted my fender to door today, on my Bee, that didn't look right after paint and assembly. A bit of fender out at the bottom and pushed up hard, door in at bottom, out at top and the contours now match perfect.

The cowl and the door/fender seem off a bit........

You can also utilize a 4 x 4 block behind the fender brace and the body. Leave the top of the fender attached and the bottom loose. May take a bit to determine the right size block. Place that in the area in question and push the fender inward to force that area out........

Use the spoon as stated above while checking your upper door hinge. You may have to shim it a little bit also.

And you will bend the door edge inward.........trading one issue for another..

I'm hoping that doesn't happen, just have to be very careful. It usually takes at least 2 guys trying to do this. 3 would be great so as to eyeball while the other 2 work it. I'm just hoping he does not need to cut anything.

It is a tough spot with that brace in place....It will take a fair amount of force.....You dont want to just bend the lip out because it will be a fair amount of filler to level it out.....

Another high price AMD manufactured crap......They should have a Flippin rep come out and fix their mistake but we know that will not happen.....

I guess that could happen.. if its not used in moderation..
The amount of force to move that out will not be in moderation....Thats the issue....

Trust me I agree with using a spoon when you can but I just dont think its possible in this situation...

Thanks for this - can you tell me what you see with the cowl/door/fender being off? I mean, do you see something else in the photos besides the issue I’m trying to fix?

Great suggestion on the 4x4 block, that could work, I’ll think it over tonight. As you said in another message it will take a lot of force, as that brace is pretty beefy.

Not saying it will work but it is worth a try.....

It may be the picture but the top of the door and the top of the rear fender are below the cowl by a 1/4 inch....

I wouldnt hesitate to put a slice in that brace, if that is what it needs........ Ive done it and more......unmolested door dictates to an aftermarket fender every time

There is nothing wrong with filler every restoration has some.....The thickness is where people lose sight of..

those fenders were a train wreck, and doors were skinned...... they get a little filler.... lmao
