I'm trying to determine if a 62 Dart 4 door hardtop is worth saving, or just consider it a parts car.
I don't have ppwk, it needs a floor pan, trunk pan, hood, engine, interior work, brakes gone thru, pretty much everything any other car I have owned needed. Surprisingly the cowl has no visible rust.

I have a project already, and will be taking some minor parts from it, no trim or body panels.

Is it worthy of selling on, w/o ppwk, or can I have a clear conscious and strip it and scrap what's left?

Just looking for opinions, not looking to sell anything at the moment. I've grown to appreciate these cars, but no ppwk and 4 doors makes me think it doesn't have a future.

I am slightly biased, but as long as the undercarriage is in good shape you’d be fine trying to salvage her.

I to appreciate these cars. Other than the number of doors they look just like all the 62 B body Darts, and on first glance you don't really see the difference. Cost wise that may present a problem if you want to get your money out of it down the road.

Matthon, take a look under the dash to check for rust also. I see no problem saving the car from the scrapper. I've liked 4 door cars and have had many nice ones over the years. I too bought a "Parts Car" but found out it's too nice to cut up so I'm building a fun beater out of it. Plan is for a old school low buck semi Gasser look. (No straight front axle) Photo is just for reference. From what I remember New York does not require a title,do they ?

There are guys who convert these into 2-door cars, so you could locate a pair of doors and sell them with the car as a package to try to inspire someone. As a 4-door car it's worth more as parts than as a whole right now, but 10 or 20 years from now that may change. I have a completely vanilla 4-door Savoy that I love. It's a bone dry car, total sleeper. But it's worth more to me than it would be worth on the market. On the other hand you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, and those parts could be used to help resurrect other cars. If you (or your buyer) decide to fix it up I have a clean hood and much more. And if you part it out I'm sure there's something I could use.

No titles in NY until 73 I believe, just transferable registration.
I've heard stories of people getting a registration w/o ppwk, just a bill of sale, but I've never actually personally known someone who did.

I don't have the funds or time to support another project, and I need my trailer back!

I was kind of hoping it was complete junk so I wouldn't feel guilty, but it doesn't seem to be any worse than my two door.
Plus, I was able to buy another one to get the trim it is missing, and I have another 318 poly, needs a rebuild, this one has the engine but no heads or intake.

I had to strip the other car and leave it as it had snapped in half, the drive train actually pushed the front seat into the ceiling.

20 years is probably true.
I think the last owner who drove it took pride in it, looks like the interior was redone at some point, had a super fast oil pressure gauge with an external filter or something, the optional wheel was swapped in I think, I found some other stuff, old ins card, military papers.

The chrome on the bumpers is really good, can that front one be straightened?

Did you save this one ? Does it have blue interior ?
Thanks

I still have it. I need some pieces off it, but not much, mostly small items, but I discovered the other day my 2 door has a rust issue in the full floor rail, on the driver's side. The 4 door has a good one.
Blue interior, mostly.
Front seat is brown, I think, it has 2 covers over it. Visors are green, headliner is junk, driver door panel was cut for an emblem. It was in a junk yard.

To be clear, I'm not trying to sell anything yet as I'm not 100% sure what I need to complete my 2 door, and I had thoughts of keeping it whole enough to survive. Not trying to upset any members.

So we're on the same page, that's a Plymouth cap. I would possibly trade it for a Dodge cap.

Ok no worries, I couldn't make it out in the pic. Mine's a Dodge.

That's a sweet Fury wagon btw!

If you ever want to unload those door panels I May be interested in using them in my 64 polara

Been there, done that and every time I've scrapped one I found myself wishing I hadn't a few months later.

Oh boy. This thread has come back to life and now it's back to the front of my brain.
I took the effort to gather enough trim from that blue 4 door to make it as complete as possible, but I need some interior pieces, armrest screws, etc, and I'm debating keeping the steering wheel.

Discovering my 2 door needs the floor brace made me search for a new AMD piece, but I don't see one listed. Their website is bad, pick a 62 Dart, some stuff, 62 330 different stuff, 62 Polara, etc, but it's all for the same car. I'm thinking I may need it from the 4 door, then again that's more work than buying new, but new is more money, around and around.

The 318 auto is coming out of my 2 door and it turns freely, it would probably run. I would send it along with the 4 door.

Then I see something like FU64RY 4 doors and they are definitely cool, but way nicer!

If you did part it out is it a V8 K member.

I believe it is, the 318 poly is still in it. As I recall the mounts weren't modified. I can double check.
