Question regarding cam location. I am wanting to build a larger Generation 2 HEMI using a new KB block. My current engine is a older stock casting and I was thinking of going aluminum this time. What if any would be going the raised cam location Vera the stock location. I am wanting to go with a big bore and longer stroke but still want it where it could be driven on the street. I would appreciate some feedback and ideas.
Thanks

Even a 4.75" stroke can be fitted to the standard cam height block. 4.5"x 4.5" will net 572" More than enough.

The raised cam helps with pushrod clearance and straightens the pushrods a bit. Its worth the price.

Also will take a special timing chain !!
If ur going to alum. anything in a r/b or hemi, it`s gonna cost you !

I'll agree that are are benifit to a raised cam block. However on the street or even in most bracket style applications it's unnecesary. In fact probably no reason not to use a stock Hemi block. Easily build with a 4.15, 4.25"" or 4.50" stroke, 477"-525". Depends on how fast a "street" car you want. Dudek's FAST Road Runner makes over 800hp with exhaust manifolds at 500"

Thanks for your input on the cam location. I am only use to using the standard iron blocks as the basis to the other HEMIs that I have had. With the iron blocks not being available I am looking for another option and was thinking about the KB. I welcome any ideas or suggestions as to options.
Thanks

i believe the raised cam blocks have bigger cam bearing bores for bigger lift cams as well . here is my old one , got a crack up though the cam valley . its good for setup .
