Hi
I'm just getting ready to do my door seals and am finding out everyone is back ordered. Summit, jegs, etc. first experience doing door rubber. Is this common? Amazon says possibly by April. Thanks.

Steel Rubber.... expensive but the best and an exact match for the originals.

Wow! 522.00 for a kit! You weren't kidding about cost. Metro kit was only 169.00. ( 5 piece kit vs. steel rubber 11 piece). Steel rubber is in stock though.

I bought some of the cheaper stuff for my Coronet after seeing the quality of the Steel products. I ended up throwing it in the garbage and ordered Steel (especially the trunk seal a correct seal has two different profiles bonded in 2 places, the steel was an exact duplicate the others were not)

It all depends on the type of car in which your working with. Certain brands work better for certain applications. Just to say that you can use one brand and get the best fit and function does not always hold true. Also, depending upon the application, manufactures will purchase from each other to have coverage for that particular application. And no matter the application, it is next to impossible to beat the quality of the 50 year old original pieces.

One of the largest suppliers of bulk weatherstripping has in the past year seen some major changes internally. As in any business, you see product come and go, but several profiles have been dropped forcing us to seek out other sources. One piece of window felt material had a 300% increase in material cost and we are having to outsource one piece and it looks like a four to six month turn around.

So short answer, volume levels can fluctuate depending upon a variety of reasons. It is not uncommon for some more popular pieces to occasionally run low.

Soffseal, has been out of roof rail weatherstrip for my '68 since I inquired back in September. They're always '6 weeks out' unfortunately they don't say which six weeks...

Usually the times in which inventory levels are the lowest is June through August during peak car show season. Christmas purchases does deplete volume levels some. I know that we have stocked up since October so as not to have those issues and to avoid the slight markups that most manufactures roll out in January.
