Question is do they come ready to bolt on and hook up the linkage? Seems when they get old, the spring that returns the button breaks and that is what's needed in this case. The guy is installing better doors etc but is not wanting to buy new door handles just because the spring is broken and so far, two parts cars with decent looking passenger handles have broken springs. Thing is, if I have to replace the springs only to save his older handles, he ain't going to be saving much if anything but who has springs only.....?

Any aftermarket, repop, door handles I’ve purchased all bolted in with no assembly or parts from original handles.

chrome probably won't last as long, possibly a fraction of the originals...

From a time standpoint you will end up paying more to save the old door handles.

Latch pivot ball attach point is just off enough on the repros that your door won't lock. You can swap over the old pivot section or bend the attach link to shorten it up a tad for things to work correctly.

YO handles purchased in the 80’s late pitted pretty fast just like the right outside mirror. They bolted right it. Challenge was finding ones without black buttons.

First pair I bought for my '65 Belvedere, one worked, the other didn't. Trim Parts made it good. Straight bolt on. No problems so far!

I appreciate the replies and kinda figured the chrome quality wouldn't be as good as the originals.....and these have been outside baking in the west Texas desert sun since around 81 but that probably saved the car over all.

i just replaced my outer handle(drivers ) and it just bolted on. OER brand form Classic industries .
we will see how good the chrome last on these , the exterior mirrors i bought from them rusted almost right away in the pivot joint where you adjust the mirror. it s a daily driver but the Original one no rust after 50 years it was just loose. so i would keep the old handle just incase

One thing to consider is that the 68 to 70 B-Body door handle pivot point could vary depending upon the vendor of the original door handles. So depending upon who you purchase the reproductions from, may dictate that you reuse your old spring mechanism and pivot point. It is no problem to swap out, but if your spring is broke, then that might create an issue if your original style does not match up to the original pivot ball orientation.

I have a few old ones I replaced on my 63 Plymouth. If you can use them for the parts they are yours!

I'd be tempted to use the repro spring in the original handle.

I used reproduction door handles in my 70 Road Runner. Overall, I am pleased with the look and function. I just have one minor complaint: The door knobs can stick in the "in" position when opening the door. I have had passengers open my right door and then not have the door be able to latch because the knob sticks. I haven't had time yet to adjust and work on them. I have a project lined up in the spring to work on my doors extensively for it, rattles, poor door cards, etc. and will work to solve that issue at that time.

The ones I bought bolted right on and looked great, still look good but the chrome appears to scuff easy.

I have a pair of NOS handles if you go that direction. Bolted them on until my originals came back from the chrome shop. Other than that, never hooked up.
