At some point someone used rivets. Also, if memory serves me correct the entire piece is painted satin black?

I'm not sure what that part is. If it's the splash guards, they are supposed to be rivetted.

It's the piece of metal that the hood latch is on.

Trying hard to get my memory:realcrazy:.

If nobody chimes in I can look at mine, they are small like 8-32 or maybe even #6 but definitely not rivets

Once the rivers are out you may have to address another problem.....Are the fixed nuts there? If they are were they drilled out to accept the rivers?

Sounds like the bolts were rusted badly and broke off in the fixed nuts.....

I assume your talking about where the top plate attaches to the fender?

Hey Justin, I'm pretty sure the nuts are gone (on the car that is, lol) but I'm at work now so will have to check tonight.

Just checked and the nuts are still there, except one which the stem is still in the bolt but the top was cut flush. What's the best way to get it out without destroying the bolt?

Here's a picture of mine....

They are 1/4" X 20 bolts with captive washers. They bolt into square nuts that are attached to the fenders. You can easily feel underneath the rear of the grille frame to see if the square nuts are there. You can feel if the front ones are there with your pinky finger or look in with a flashlight. I have a hard time believing that all 4 nuts are gone, but if they are, you can easily get a nut & washer underneath. The factory bolts are available from R/T Specialties.

Drill & tap, I would think.

Thanks Mark! Then the entire piece is painted Satin Black, correct?

Was looking at the Parts Catalog for the bolt size but can't see to find any info, unless I'm not looking in the correct section. I would think they would say in the diagram what size bolt you need.

As I also need the front Bumper Guard Bolts & Washers, all they say is Bolt / Washer but no sizes.

Where is this info located?

Yah, that 's the one thing I hate about the assembly drawings.. shows a bolt and they all look the same. FWIW, my grill support bolts on the Bee are 1/4" where all fender bolts, rad support, etc are 5/16". Then you get into different size washer diameters on them as well..

If you are looking for all of the various fasteners with sizes and descriptions, invest in the Restoration Reference Manual for the 68 to 70 B-Body applications by Byron Fettig and David Wise. There is a Dodge and Plymouth version and they are not cheap. The manuals are $135 each. Like any manual, there may may be variations discovered, but for what they are, they are an invaluable restoration aide.

These are the bolts correct?

The hardware for the bumper guard to be attached to the bumper is just common 3/8" course thread nuts, washers & lock washers.....available at any hardware store. The bumper guard bolts on the bottom (through the valance) are also 3/8", but they have a larger than normal captive washer. Of course any ordinary 3/8" bolt will do with a large washer.

If you choose to get the correct hardware, you can get just about everything here....
