Has anyone used this fram filter with vapor separator in their mopar RBs? It was recommended in Mopar Action magazine to help with vapor locking. Only difference is the 1/4” vapor fitting is up and it’s $30 cheaper than stock.

:popcorn:,never seen this one. $5 is worth trying it .

I have two of those filters (2 fuel pumps) but have not installed them yet. I was planning to run some 1/4" aluminum line back to the tank as a fuel/vapor return & connect it to the 3/8" nipple where fuel normally comes OUT (reverse flow).

I read somewhere that those filters (small nipple turned upwards) are useful for a vapor return system MUCH cheaper than an actual factory vapor return cannister. At least my current plan was to limit the small hole size (.020" or something like that ?????) by drilling a hole of the appropriate size (to match a factory vapor canister) in a piece of 1/4" metal rod & splice that rod into a piece of the hose in the 1/4" return line....so my "orifice" would inside the hose basically. That's what gave me the idea for a "hose plug with an orifice"

I've heard that some of the aftermarket factory-style vapor canisters have holes that are too big. I "think" it was @Cranky that mentioned he solders up the "too big" holes on the vapor canisters & drills them out to create the correct, smaller "orifice". You might reach out to him and ask or search his posts.

EDIT--> Cranky said it wasn't him that posted about this...maybe @lewtot ?

So, @RT Boy 67, I see that you disagree. Please teach me what you know then.

I have use pre injection Chrysler mini van filters with the return line for years with no problem.

I have used them for years on my AMC 401 powered cj5 and it cured my vaporlock problem.

Hey 3B, how exactly did you use the filters with the extra nipple?

I've been thinking about facing mine nipple-up with a return line going back to the stock fuel sender "out" nipple, but haven't done it yet.

How did you use your filter with the extra nipple 69hemibeep?
Don’t know about the other guys but I ordered a new fuel sending unit with 5/16 out and a 1/4” return in and adding a return (vapor) line.

I have used one on my GTX for a long time it has the factory return line.

Does it have to be mounted vertically? I’d like to mount it as close to the carb as possible, horizontally beneath the electric choke and send the return line towards the fire wall.

I used a similar Wix Filter 33041. It has 3/8" in and out with a 1/4" return line. I ran a 1/4" return line on my installation. Here is some pix.

I’m not sure by your pics but the vapor return has to be on top to work? Filter Inlet on bottom, outlet and vapor return is on top.

I don’t believes it really makes a difference because the fuel is constantly flowing and is not dead headed in the line to heat up and turn into vapor. I have driven this car in 120 degree temps without issues.

That’s great news. Looking forward to installing mine.
