Loyal To The End

Very touching, there's a reason they're man's best friend and why I've always had a big dog. Wonderful animals and friends.

A true friend, I only wish he found his master in the other life, I really love dogs, i rescue puppys on the road, and i love my giggles (the cute little dog in my avatar )

A few years back my neighbor was fighting a losing battle with Esophageal cancer. His dog Roxy, a large female Dobe, was always at his side. Just a couple months after he passed his wife asked me and another neighbor to help her with a problem. We found Roxy had passed away in her masters home office where they spent most of their time.

The bond between man and dog...
It's in the DNA of both species, and there are those exceptional examples of just how close and tight those bonds can be.

Amazing

I lost my 14 1/2 years old lab in March. As good a dog as she was, 1 sandwich by a stranger and Joe who.

I have avoided reading this one for a few days, why, because no mater how good people are, dogs are better. My dog is 15, had her ACL repaired 5 months ago. Now she is blind and I still walk her EVERYDAY. I know this sounds so stupid but the thought of her not by my side truly brings tears to my eyes. My son helped pick her out and right after that he pasted away. The thought of them both being gone is more than I can take...... Hey-O Son, Let the Horses Run. That's why my name is Hey-O, he always said it when we were having a great time.

The ONLY fault of a dog is that their lives are short, the same thing happened to me every time I thought of the day my giggles left me, that's gonna be more than I can take, from here I send to you a big hugh brother because now she depend completely on you and you are not letting her down just because your girl is old, don't let her suffer more than she can take, BRAVO for you.

All right...who's cutting onions?

Tomorrow we go to the vet. She's still happy and is still in very good shape. It's her that wants to go for a walk and she knows the way we go by smell and sound. I'll ask if he can fix her vision and where to go from here. I'll have to live with his opinion, like it or not . Her quality of life is all I care about, money means nothing to me at this point.

My pray tonight is for your girl and you'll see everything is going to be ok with her sight again.

Hey-O
Wow man, what a story.
Your heart is in the right place.
I was the last one of 3 of us who went to the veterinarian to send "my wife's" dog Cocoa across the Rainbow Bridge.
My reward from Cocoa for staying with her...one last kiss (lick).
As hard as it was, THAT made me know I did the right thing for Cocoa to stay with her until she was gone, until we meet again.
Do what is right for your dog, whatever that may be, it is an investment that you can't go wrong with. If you decide that it's best for your dog to let it pass on, it is the last, most loving decision you can make, as long as you make it for the dog's sake, not for yours.
I have a friend whose dog got old and was having "accidents". THAT is not a good reason!

Hey-O, you'll know, and you'll make the right decision for your friend when the time comes. When we had to let our Cassie go, I didn't stay with her because I didn't want her to see me cry like a baby because it would have upset her and I didn't want her to leave that way. I left her with a smile, a hug, and a kiss. But when I got out in the parking lot, I fell apart. Our vet and the staff was so wonderful in the way they handled the whole situation. My wife and I were physically ill for about a month...depressed, didn't want to eat, couldn't sleep, etc. We decided to not get another dog because we didn't want to go through the loss of one again. However, 3 months later we got another rescue dog who was 3 years old at the time...Coco. She's now 6.

That was the right thing to do. I was able to keep it together, so Cocoa wouldn't be upset. After she passed, it all came out, for some time.
There is a lot of support here and elsewhere for dog lovers from people who "get it".
Let us know how your pup and you are doing.

Well, the vet said that she is 90 percent blind and did a dye test in each eye. He said there is nothing we can do except for drops in her eyes three times a day for ten days to reduce the pressure behind the eyes and then come back for a follow up visit. He said that she is happy and acts as if she were half her age. He said I looked more upset then the dog. He said my walking her everyday is the best thing for a long and happy life. Bottom line, take her home and resume her normal everyday life. I feel bad but, I'm happy, if that makes an sense. Thanks to all for listening to my crap story.
