On the typical 69 RR hood, is the black hood and stripes suppose to be Flat Black, or

Satin Black?

I certainly don't want something textured
Then you don’t want it to look like original? I sprayed organisol on my hood and it came out of the gun like cotton candy. After it fully dried, I knocked it down with scotchbright pads to get the correct texture. But the colored changed from black to gray. Next, I rubbed the hood with a rag dipped in reducer and this brought back the black color. I have received many compliments on it as looking exactly like the factory original color and texture. It does look great in my opinion.

It looks similar to flat black, but with a deep texture. Never wax it! It still looks good after 15 years or so.

Here are two photos taken just a moment ago.

It a little dusty though.

I think the closest match without being ‘correct’ is to use either SEM or PPG Trim Black. It’s along the lines of satin.

No, I don't want anything looking original, just want it to be satin or flat whichever is CLOSE to original
