1964 Plymouth fury with original tapered rear axle. 10 inch drums.
a week or so ago I noticed one rear wheel cylinder gave out and started leaking. so I got a couple of new rear cylinders, hardware kits, and shoes. had trouble getting the drum off and ended up buying a heavy duty puller to do so. now that its off I cant figure out what hardware I need for my rear brakes. I bought a couple hardware kits from rock auto hoping they would be correct but it seems like the springs don't quite match up or something. the pictures in my manual are a little confusing to go on, and also it seems someone has screwed with the brakes in the past. when I opened the drum 3 of the springs were broken, only 1 was intact. it also looks like whoever "rebuilt"---(screwed with) my rear brakes seems to have used the same hardware kit I have which makes this harder. if the original springs were still in there I could just take them to a place and have them matched up.
my main question are....
where can I get that tiny, almost oval shaped compression spring that goes on the end of that horizontal piece in between the shoes? it didn't come with the kit and mine is broken in two pieces (on the right side of the picture under that yellow spring, see 2nd zoomed in pic below for detail)
in the manual it shows a picture with self adjusters, mine did not have any self adjusters when I opened it up but in the manual it looks like it maybe it should? any thoughts on this?
