Apart for paint and body work. Paint should be on within a week or so. Still a whole lotta work to do. Going to be awhile. Want to see how fast it will go on 9" tire

Mine is around a 20 year old build. I have had it around 10 years or so. I am always doing something to it as I can afford it. It is a good 10 footer body wise and runs good. I pick a different project about every year for winter.

Yeah, might help if I mentioned that it is a 64 plymouth belvedere. Hemi, auto and dana 60. Not a factory hemi. Always been a street car.

I checked off several. I have one that has always been done as a driver. One that is a project & one that is a total basket case that are project cars with my Son's.

I voted finished as I drive it weekly and almost everything I wanted to do to it is finished. But I still look for stuff to tinker on.

Drilling a new $10,000 Well .... slowing my 65 Belvedere project down to a crawl !
Ouch!

My car will always be "in progress", as there's always something or other that needs to be addressed. I'll never be able to afford to do a complete strip down/restoration with paint and body work. I'm hoping to get the trunk floor replaced and maybe some frame rail repairs where they've rusted from the inside in a couple of spots in a few years. I drive it about 1500 miles a year to cruise in's and to work once in a while now though. I've redone the whole suspension, put in a strange s-60 and replaced the 727 with a tko-600, redid the whole fuel system and converted to Holley Sniper EFI last year. I expect I could probably daily drive it. Kind of worried about those couple spots on the frame rails though...scared how much that's going to cost since that kind of work isn't something I'll be able to do myself and it's probably worse than it looks. I sure do love cruising her around when I get the chance though.

Mine was on hold from June to October 2018 while working on my Chevy. Now it's just on hold until the garage is warmer.

Frame rail caps maybe?
Maybe....the cracked/rusted through spot is on the front left frame rail, where it starts to go up, right behind the front tire. Some jackass tow truck driver tried to hook in the frame there to pull it up on his rollback and ripped the frame a couple of inches, from there a crack has formed that goes up around the side of the frame rail Obviously rusted from the inside...the outside looks good except where it's cracked, so I'm worried that there are other areas that are bad.

Tired of my car being on the back burner.....but funds are very limited these days but at least the drama queen is gone!
It is a driver during the summer and a project during the winter. Just pulled the engine out today so I can start on the to do list.

Think I saw that car in HR rag recently.....?

traveling overhead crane

wow
Used to operate an overhead crane years ago but it wasn't a 1 ton! The cab AC unit alone was 7 1/2 ton :D It was a cool gig for awhile....also thought my 1500 sq ft shop was big enough 35 years ago.

I would think that tapping the rails with a ball peen hammer or a miners pick hammer could give an idea as to the condition. The solid sections will sound well solid. Trouble areas would sound different. Real bad areas? The hammer might just go right thru.lol.
Another way might be to drill small holes, say starting at the crack and working away from there. Either way, dont let yourself get distracted or get interrupted. But you do need to know or in your mind the rust will have eaten the entire car real quick.lol. Its not as bad as you think.

In progress.
After sitting for over 20 years work has begun ! I bought my Charger in 84, worked on it and drove it for a few years. Then life and other hobbies got in the way. My Dad who is a gear head from the 50's and 60's is enjoying tinkering with it. The 383 was carefully and successfully started. Doing a bit of brake work.
Our plan is to make a drivable car and make it look good.
Long way to go.

At first, I didn't notice the " B" in the thread title. So, my answer was going to be : creaky, achy, worn and tired :)

I have found that these old b bodies are almost always a work in progress! Get one thing done and poof, another pops up. However, that’s why many of us got into this hobby! Right now working on little things as it’s been pretty cold in the garage and I had to put my daughter’s project Jeep Wrangler in, other wise known as the “Heep”. That has taken up space where my heater would sit to warm things up. Dang, I gotta get that thing outta my garage!

I go out to it's holding cell every now and then! I do miss working on it . But I need to build a few things to sell and I refuse to sell my charger after it's done ! This 38 caddy I got not long ago shouldn't take much effort and if I keep budget low I should make a decent turn around to keep my wife off my case about the charger! I still buy parts for it here and there ! One day I will be able to lock myself in the garage with it and go to town!!!

Checking the frame rail should be pretty easy. Order one of the $20 bore scope cameras that plug in to your phone. Or better yet plug it into a laptop for a bigger screen. Stick in the rail and take a look. I've found small bad spots from mouse nests on the rail. Even even a bigger spot isn't that bad a repair.
