I have an aluminum intake, water pump, and housing that will be going on the 383 build in the near future. Just wondering what everyone does with regards to paint. First option, leave them bare. Second is to paint them an aluminum color. Third opinion is to paint them same color as engine. If you guys can show me some pics to help me with my choice, that would be great. Thanks

I painted mine.

I don't like popping a hood and seeing one solid color where it looks like someone just spray bombed it but that's just me. It looks sharp having a motor broken up with some aluminum parts to me, heads, intake, water pump, etc but to each their own.

As we all know aluminum gets kinda funky and hard to clean after awhile. I started painting the intakes with Rustoleum ceramic silver. It is fuel resistant and so far has proved to be so. Looks good too.

Got any pics of under your hood 747?

I clear powder-coat aluminum parts. I hate the oxidation of bare metal.

Everything, except the intake. Might sell it, so I don't want to alter it.

Thanks. The powder has held-up very well. My guys have over 3 decades doing it, so they know what will and won't work.

Bare cast aluminum doesnt stay nice long. Polishing is a pain. Paint it with urethene single stage. The small block was painted 16 years ago, the big block 7 years ago.
