I saw a broadcast sheet for a 70 383 Roadrunner that showed the A36 axle Package. My question is it showed everything a 440 Six Barrel or Hemi car got, but still had a 23 spline transmission (674) if I remember correct. If the A36 package got leafs, torsion bars, shocks, etc why wouldn’t the use the Hemi transmission or was it a bogus broadcast sheet??

I believe A36 is "performance axle package with 3.55 gears" (8-3/4" rear end) which would be a correct option available in a '70 Roadrunner with a 383 engine.

The axle package got you the upgraded suspension and cooling but it didn't increase HP or torque. Why would you need to upgrade a transmission when there was no change in the engine output?

Apparently, the complete set up would have been well within use tolerances to qualify for warranty work. Meaning Mopar didn't expect any problems with the transmission/gear combo so why change the transmission?

Thanks
I was just curious if it would have received the Hemi transmission to go with the Hemi suspension. The output of HP would make sense then as to it remaining the 23 spline coded tranny.

Did the upgraded cooling always have the 26" radiator ? About 10 years ago I came across a pretty much all original 383 car with the A36 axle package and it had a 22" radiator. And the core support was for a 22" radiator. Was a manual shift.
