In the market for a 4x4 truck

Damn that’s too bad, maybe someone else has something they’re looking to unload here. I’ll check out that site as well.
A lot of his trucks look new, less than 150k on a diesel is nothing, beds don't look to have ever been used. You can pick up a King Ranch that's 5 years old for less than 30k...pretty good deal...His Dodges are priced the about same too...I will probably buy from him if/when mine lays down....cant afford $50-80k for a truck...

Just got off the horn with my old man, his friend has a 2010 ram quad cab with 8’ bed with under 100k miles he’s looking for someone to take over payments, 5.7 hemi 4x4. But it has a “blown rearend” so I’m waiting on details on that if I can fix it I might do that. 6k left on loan
Sounds like potentially good. The rust issue worries me as I've seen so many that have great looking bodies and these rusted out spots. Doesn't the rear end ratio have to be the same as the front axel? Could that make it harder to find in a wrecking yard? Just wondering, things to consider. Good luck and let us know how you do

Wow! Amazing the prices of these new trucks.

Guess that rules out Chevy and Ford, lol!!!

I would sell mine but my wife and son would kill me. I have often thought about tho.

Ok it’s a Dana and the ring gear went and he’s saying it destroyed the housing. Think I’m going to pass on it.
I would go hunting for a rear axle and go with this one. Easy swap. Should be plenty rears available in the ratio you need. How the hell did he wreck a Dana rear with a little 5.7?

Had 2 buyers back out on the SRT, I’m keeping it now. Rehashing the idea of taking over payments on this truck with the blown rear axle.

I think there was a known issue on the ram dana's that had limited slip differentials. Something like a clip would fail and eat into the housing and ruin the whole housing. I'm not sure of the years affected by that issue though. I have an 05 and I know it was on the hit list for the issue....no problems to date.

You should be able to pick up a differential for a reasonable price....and the change out is pretty easy. If you get it for the buy out, it sounds like a pretty fair deal.

Yes I found an article last night about the differential issue, I guess at one point the NHTSA was looking into it but that’s all I found.

I’m wondering if the rearend in this truck should be covered. I’m going to send him the link

erm..if he gets the truck fixed for free ..
and its now a running driving truck again,
wont he then sell it for much more??

might wanna think about it,you can run the Vin by the dealer yourself.
