Vette owner said to me, it’s still an old car. Don’t care. 22’s and bags. What a way to destroy the beauty of a clay desinged 60’s car. Maybe it’s a fad. Ugly with those hoops. Iconic wheels have already been designed.

There are always bad fads. Thankfully the pink and teal era is gone. Just say no to 20"s, YUK

Only old people are interested in the hobby. Old people want to be comfy and do little to no work on the cars....they want to drive them. I know that's why I'm doing a modern setup in my `cuda. I hate driving old cars. They're loud, vibrate, smell, suck gas, and generally require a bunch of attention. My minivan is much nicer to drive, so why not have the looks and comforts/performance/reliability? I have racecars, for when I want loud and fast.
I won't red x, but I disagree with every thing. I'm old, and I LOVE driving any old car, especially my beast. I feel like I'm 17 Everytime I turn the key, Everytime I shift gears. I got modern muscle for my sleepy-comfy driving. I got old school muscle for FUN.

You can red-x.......I have racecars for the old-school stuff. I just think old oem cars, are slow and boring. It was kinda funny watching B-J, and watching jacked-up pickups going for more than minty muscle. I think that market has been milked, and useful drivers are taking their place. You can have the looks and drive them coast to coast....in comfort. I'm afraid that when I finish the `cuda, I'll sell everything else. LOL.
My wife wants a street-rod.... So be it. I'll have to start looking for a trade or sell one of mine, and buy her a street-rod.

How many TV car shows do oem restorations? The old cars that nobody have wanted for a long time, are getting a new audience due to modern technology.

Poor man pro touring here. I want to sleep at night. Scratch, chip? Bleh....

When I was much younger (teens / 20's) and when I got my first Mopar about 15 years ago nobody seemed interested in anything less than a 440 or Hemi. Having a 383 car I decided to build my car the way I wanted because that's all that matters at the end of of the day. Having lots of modern aftermarket parts to choose from to make the ride better than it ever was from the factory still makes it fun for me, and it does make a difference when it comes to handling / performance and driving in general.

There's nothing wrong with keeping it stock, upgrading with modern internals brings them to current day, safer even. For new people currently outside of the hobby, they may not even know how to work on these and that would include repair shops nowdays. With every passing decade / generation the cars and all of their parts become more obsolete.

I stopped watching the auctions after 120 minutes of GM & Ford only to have them break for a commercial when the only Mopar came across the block. The people buying there are not me.

Spruce Green ? 68 Runner 35k. Wrong wheels. Shame.

NON car guys at work were talking about these auctions as if they are relevant to the hobby. I felt like a brain surgeon hanging out with janitors.

HIGH ROLLERS ONLY...........
If you watched at the very end yesterday, there was an obviously needy family who wanted the Jag and their budget was $5k.
I'm sure they spent a bundle just getting there and ponying up the admission fees to get in and then to get shut down at the very last second.
Pissed me off that one or more of the well healed did not step in and buy them a car.
I'll gladly donate $500 if there were a way to start a fund drive for them.

FU64RY, You said it right. HIGH ROLLERS ONLY. You must have a big bank account to bid there. Also like Kern Dog's statement about NON cars guys you too are right. There are plenty of Guys(and Gals) there that don't even have a clue what they just bought. I've been there. You hear "Honey I want the blue one. You'll buy it for me won't you ?" "Sure thing honey anything you want." That's not a place for someone that works hard for their money.

Who are the FOOLs that BID at Barrett-Jackson?

Check out the Fool in the Long Hair BEHIND the Bidder who Bid $40K for a 1971 GMC 4X4 Sierra Grande (Yeah, it was a nice truck, BTW)
