Damn!!! It's cold.

when it gets this cold it sucks, i'm just glad i dont work outside in this **** anymore:praying:

And the heat!

On the plus side, it's 30* warmer here this morning, it's 10 above.

This is car-building season for me. I keep my carpeted shop at 65 degrees. Investing in a 4-seasons, workable garage/shop, was probably the smartest thing I've done in this hobby. I always have stuff to do.

It is true. The older you get the less you like the cold.
YES

Avid snowmobiling for twenty five years , mostly in the U.P. MI - New sleds every couple of years

-20/-30 didn’t matter the temp , me and the wife (She had her own sled also) averaged around 4,000 miles a winter in WI / U.P.

And like I said , been working at GRB Airport for over 30 years , since high school

Retired from sledding about three years ago , total love of snowmobiling , sold everything , sleds , trailers , gear , around the winter of 2015

The winter in WI 2013/2014 was damn brutal - Polar Vortex and when it started again in 2015 we had enough , totally lost interest because of the cold

Where can I get one of these “wind chill” thermometers? Mine only reads regular temperatures.

I have this old La Crosse I bought off the local Wally World clearance shelf years ago that's held up really well for as cheaply made as it is.
Hail broke a wind cup on it once. Replacements are still available..……….

Just don't fall for the "pull my finger" trick.

I've had one of the Lacrosse home weather station for years. I believe mine was $150. I love it especially during storms.

I've never heard of anyone retiring and moving up north. I might be the first one to do it. Every year the summers get harder to deal with. I can put enough clothes on to stay warm but I can't take enough off to stay cool. After 67 years, I'm sick of the heat, droughts, wind, dust, hail and tornadoes.
I know it's just wishful thinking. The wife ain't gonna leave her chickens.
I did. From South Carolina, and we are happy here. -12 this morning and + 21 right now.

Thank goodness
It's 60*f here today, awe the warmth of the sun

throw another log on the fire
my northern eastern buds

^^^^^^

Hey I lived in Alaska for 3 + years over 4 winters
worked on the North Slope (there's no slope there) Pt. Barrow
the farthest land point on North America/US Artic
I know cold
Lived/Worked in the Brooks & Alaska Range, Sierras, Cascades, Ozarks...
I love winter sports too & an avid skier, outdoorsman...
Use to love the Quads &/or 4 wheeling out in the snow too,
that 'was' always a blast...

I just choose to not live in the extreme cold climate
constant freezing, snow or ice throughout the whole DAMN winter
albeit we get snow here, no where near as much, just a few mile upcountry...
I live just a little below the snow delouse of the Sierras...
I'd rather be close to get away from it, access it anytime I want
it's just short drive up the mountain...
IMO, than deal with it for 4-5 months a year...
That's just crazy... :poke:

Got smarter in my advancing years...

Now as I get older, the less I like cold or the added expense & added work,
that comes with it...

My daughter moved to Ala friggin bama for 5 years ..man talk about hot for my yankee *** .. but an hour from Talladega which was great. I made a few races..I need to get out of the cold grey days that we have for 5 months every year. I'm tired of storing my car for all those months. Snow I can deal with, but the cold kicks my *** now. I need a compromise in the weather that I can live with. Virginia / N. Carolina would be nice and I just may get it as my son-in law is a professor and has tenure now, so they're looking to go back to a southern college soon. Going to follow my granddaughters wherever. :)

I love being outside as much as possible. I used to camp out in the winter and wore wool in the summer as a Civil War Re-enactor. Now I hate snow, anything below 20* and anything above 80*. Getting old sucks...

The 30-35 degree over night temp swings is what bothers me. Supposed to be in the low 30's in the morning and it's 72 right now.
