I took this picture from the east grandstands with a 135mm lens at the US Nationals in 1970. Lots of different tow rigs of the time. It looks like maybe some enclosed trailers are in way in the back.

My junk "ole reliable" pulling my 28' hallmark, always hauling one of these or somebodies else race cars to the track.

I'm using a 3000 watt Firman Inverter Generator. It's pretty quiet, around 53dbL or so and a decent sized fuel tank. It runs lights, battery charger, coffee maker, etc all ok. I did have a small cheapo compressor though and it wouldn't start that damn thing unless the tank had low air pressure.. I wrote it off as a bad design compressor because even when plugged in at home the compressor motor lugged away trying to start the same way as when plugged into the generator.. I took it back for a new one and it was the same thing. My local track has a thing about noisy compressors..

Shorthorse, Thanks for asking about usage and Malex Thanks too you as well. I received a new enclosed trailer from Santa and now I have to equip it with necessary race stuff, like you mentioned. I am considering a 3800-4000K watt generator to power a small compressor, winch as needed and A/C as needed. And a battery charger. :thankyou:

That should do it nicely. Most generator ratings are advertised at their surge level so it's important to note the generator's constant output. I have a Honda 3000 that runs my motor home with AC and powers my trailer also but I still have to be mindful of adding devices at the same time. Most all devices have an advertised running consumption rating so you can just do the math. It's the start surge from electric motors, compressors (air or AC) and the like that can be a temporary PIA. Enjoy your new trailer.

The wife is convinced I need an enclosed trailer. Step 1: check! Now I just gotta find me the right trailer at the right price.
A few weeks ago I re-decked my current trailer.... was badly needed.

Even though I have a enclosed trailer I have been neglecting my open. My youngest Son helped me rebuild the suspension with new shackle kits, new fresh coat of paint, replaced 4 of the lights that were no longer working and added the reflective tape. It was a cool and fun Father's on project. He did a grest job.

I could haul my duster and super pro camaro on this 72 c30 ramp truck.Polara hung out over the back and I could not use it for that car..then it sat for a few years. I put it up for sale on craigslist and sold it within 24 hours.I really regret selling it.Was pure 70's nostalgia...Rob
